Excerpt:

“Are you okay?”
Rylan swallowed at Cameron’s concern and nodded.  “Are you sure you still want me to move in?”  The look of concern on Cameron’s face made his throat feel tight.
“I want you safe but more than that, I want you in my life.  I still want you very much to move in with me.”
“Yes to both.  I… I want that.”
Cameron’s gaze dropped to his mouth and paused for a long minute before he met Rylan’s gaze.  “Can I kiss you?”
Oh, yes, please.
Unable to force the words past his throat, he nodded instead.
Rylan not knowing what to expect, couldn’t prevent the shiver when Cameron cupped his face.  He moaned aloud when Cameron’s lips grazed over his lower one.  Cameron took his time exploring, searching and yet not deepening the kiss as he passed over Rylan’s lips with his own.
“Rylan,” Cameron breathed.
“Please.”
That one word was all it took.
“I’ve wanted nothing more.”  Cameron tilted his mouth as he pressed their lips together, causing Rylan’s entire world to tilt on its axis.
Rylan gripped Cameron’s hips tighter in his hold, pulling him closer, as Cameron slid his tongue over the seam of his lips, asking for permission to enter.  Rylan eagerly opened, savoring the taste of peppermint and black coffee as Cameron deepened the kiss and stole Rylan’s breath in the same moment.
When they broke off and dragged in deep breaths, Cameron moved his lips behind his ear before he explored Rylan’s neck.  Rylan tilted his head back, giving him access and drawing sensations from his untried body that left him throbbing.
Rylan never knew his neck and the area behind his ear would turn him into mush.  He bit his lip to prevent a moan from escaping his throat, but Cameron bit his earlobe and spoke.
“Let me hear you.”
“You’re driving me crazy.”
“Now you know how I felt the moment I spotted you on the dance floor.  For me, that’s saying something.”
Before Rylan could form a thought to reply, Cameron moved his mouth over Rylan’s and he lost himself to the sensations that shivered throughout his body.  Cameron’s growl absorbed his moan as he deepened the kiss, pulling him closer to his hard body.
Rylan’s eyes fluttered closed, unable to keep his eyes on the sexy-as-sin sight of Cameron’s flushed face.  The kiss turned into an inferno and Rylan could feel his cock swelling in his sweats and he knew if Cameron stepped closer, he would experience Rylan’s excitement first hand.
He opened for Cameron’s exploration and instead of the intense sensations of an aggressive kiss, Cameron’s slowed his movements as his tongue explored him until he was panting and all thoughts disappeared.  There were only the sensations Cameron drew from him.

Hunter, Dark Assassins book 5, by Valerie Ullmer

Today Valerie Ullmer returns with Hunter, book five in her Dark Assassins series.

Blurb:

The one definitive belief panther-shifter Hunter and the other immortals understood about shifters and vampires; vampire venom is deadly to shifters and vice versa.  But Hunter never worried about testing the theory because he never wondered if he had a mate, even after a few of his family had found their own.  As he and two others stumble upon and eliminate several rogue shifters, part of a larger group determined to kill each of the assassins, Hunter also stumbles upon the one woman destined to be his.  There’s only one problem.  She’s part vampire.
All alone in the world.
Despite everything, Neri made a life for herself after she escaped from a facility using her as a test subject.  She has no past, no family, and no connections to the world as far as she can remember.  She stays to herself and finds a routine, telling herself she isn’t lonely.  But everything changes when she spots Hunter and her first true memory revealed.  He was there the day someone injected her with an experimental drug and changed into this cold being.
As Neri and Hunter navigate their newfound relationship, their journey becomes even more complicated when they learn Neri’s venom is deadly to shifters.  But with help from the other immortals, Hunter and Neri reveal her past and realize the extent of the threat Dark Company has been dealing with for years.
But can their relationship survive with so much stacked against them?
Disclaimer: Hunter is intended for mature readers. 18 and over only! Scenes include power exchanges, and explicitly sexual situations. These scenes are fantasies only, suitable for discerning readers. If such content may offend, please do not buy this book.

Excerpt:

“You don’t have to fear me.  You’re safe.”  Hunter reiterated his promise and cupped her face.

Hunter’s vision blackened around the edges and a second later, he plunged into a darkness.  He didn’t understand when he heard her quiet voice.
“I’m not so sure about that.”
The next minute, Hunter sensed his surroundings changed.  He blinked his eyes, getting used to the darkness after the bright, blinding light of the snow.  He still found himself on his knees and as he moved his fingers searching for the woman who had been right in front of him, he found she wasn’t there any longer.
Hunter closed his eyes and listened to his surroundings.
There was a low hum from a computer fan somewhere in the room and there was breathing, deep, as if the person was asleep.  Before he could investigate further, a desk lamp clicked on and his eyes moved toward the arrogant looking man seated, cross-legged, on an uncomfortable metal chair.  He had a smug look on his face and Hunter wanted to break his face.
Hunter pulled his gaze from the man and took a quick glance around and to him, something about it seemed familiar.  The sterile coldness, the clear glass that looked out into the hall, the white formica tiles on the floor.  Sterile and clean.  The place gave him the creeps.
When he turned his gaze to the man in the lab coat, his gaze wasn’t on Hunter but on a woman laying on the exam table he hadn’t seen until that moment.
Hunter took a deep breath, trying to examine the scents in the room and looking for a familiar one, but there was nothing.  He should have scented the sterile environment, the blue liquid on the counter along with wooden sticks and cotton balls, but there was nothing.
He growled in frustration but neither the older gray-haired doctor, nor the woman strapped down with her mouth covered to muffle sound, reacted to the sound escaping from his throat.
Without another thought, he lunged for the doctor but he passed through the figure.
Okay, I’m not here.  Can’t scent, can’t touch.
Hunter turned toward the table and sucked in a deep breath as the familiar features of the woman in the mountains came into focus.  Her face looked gaunt, but it was the dark brown hair and matching eyes that took him by surprise because she looked familiar.  Her body looked starved and despite the bruising on her limbs and the dark circles under her eyes; she looked back at the doctor in defiance.
Hunter jolted when the man spoke.
“So, Nerissa… it appears you’re an utter failure as a shifter.”  His eyes glanced down as if he were ashamed by her lack of abilities.  “But you are a prime candidate for an experimental drug my colleagues and I have been working on.”
Her gaze narrowed as he continued to speak and he noted her body shook with the continuous growl that emitted from her throat.
“You had such promise.  Oh, well.”
As if waiting for that statement, a nurse walked in and handed a syringe to the man.  “Here you go, Dr. Stevens.”

All Noah Hale wanted was to kill the immortals who lured his best friend and fellow ex-Navy SEAL to his death.  He had no desire to be teamed with a beautiful tracker who mesmerized him the moment she turned her emerald eyes his way.  But in order to stop other soldiers from pursuing the same fate, he needed to swallow his pride and work with a group of immortals he didn’t trust.

Excerpt:

Jade caught a scent of a human as she entered the fourteen-story building in downtown Snowfall.  It wasn’t just any human scent, but something that made all of her instincts flare.  She knew that she’d never caught this particular scent before, but something told her that this human might be important to her.  She tried to brush it off as quickly as the thought came, but she couldn’t find it coincidental she smelled it in the same steel building owned by Ghost and housed the headquarters of Dark Company.
As she dismissed the fleeting thought of searching for the scent, her heart thumped once, hard, in her chest at the thought of not finding its owner.  She forced herself to walk toward the elevator bank, ignoring the unwanted perusals she received from the men in the lobby.  Even in an unassuming hoodie and black yoga pants, she drew unwanted attention.  A side effect of being an immortal.
The elevator opened as soon as she pressed the up-button and she kept her gaze down as she walked into the elevator.  She entered the code to get to Ghost’s private floor, her movements too quick to be caught by the human eye, before she squeezed into the corner.  Jade used her other senses as three men in suits and two women entered the enclosed space with her.  There was no need to glance at the glass interior that covered the back wall to see what she looked like.
She sensed eyes on her. Instead of searching out the gaze, she whipped her long, straight dyed black hair into a bun on the back of her head with quick movements before sneaking her hands into the front pockets of her hoodie.
Jade waited patiently as the car traveled toward the penthouse, her ultimate destination, but she couldn’t help but try to find the intriguing scent from earlier.
After my meeting.

All she knew was he hadn’t used the particular elevator she was in and the higher the lift took her in the building, the more his scent dissipated.
In her entire existence, or what she remembered of it, she’d never been attracted to…anyone.  She’d never felt the pull to find someone either.  But lately, she’d felt increasingly restless whenever she had any downtime and her skin tingled in a way that had nothing to do with signaling immediate danger. It was as though her body tried to convey something she didn’t understand.
Her thoughts were interrupted when a man who had gotten into the elevator with her on the first floor stepped into her personal space.
“Hey, beautiful?”
Jade rolled her eyes and raised her head to glare at the man.  Of course, he wouldn’t take the hint that she wanted to be left alone. To emphasize the point, she crossed her arms and leaned against the wall, moving away from his intrusion.
The man decided to take this as an invitation and moved to wrap his arm around her waist.  The move gave her a clear shot to his ribs and she took it, gently moving her elbow back and making contact.  She flinched when she heard a distinctive crack, realizing she hadn’t been careful enough.  Before she could apologize, the elevator door opened and he ran off without looking back, holding onto his side.
She sighed.

Kai (A Dark Assasins, book 1) by Valerie Ullmer

If you like shifters and vampires along with feisty intelligent heroines, Kai (A Dark Assassins Novel Book One) may be just the book you’re looking for.

Blurb:

There are two words that described Kai.

Remote and Deadly.

And until six months ago, he was fine with that description. But when the vampire assassin spots a curvaceous woman, a human no less, who would come to fill his thoughts, he would gladly shake his persona for a moment in time with her. Instead, he kept his distance, watching out for her and learning more about her every time their paths crossed. But he had yet to speak to her. When a turn of events thrusts her into his solitary life, he must decide whether to complete his assignment, or protect her.

Olivia Sabin had dedicated her life to her work; finding a cure for cancer. She had hidden behind the mask of a scientist who cares little about anything beyond her laboratory, and for a long while she believed it herself. But when a mysterious man came to frequent the diner she visited nightly, her awareness of him devastated her concentration, and she came to look forward to the glimpses of him, however brief.

When she stumbles upon a horrific experiment at work, she knows he’s the only one she can turn to. She’s willing to sacrifice everything in order to protect him and others of his kind from the same fate. But first, she needs to find a way to get him to hear her explanation.

Please note: This is an erotic romance novel that includes explicit sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

Excerpt:

Her eyes captured his. A sliver of silver shone through as he stared right back at her from across the room. Her eyes dropped and she watched his chest rise and fall with deep, harsh breaths. He wasn’t unaffected by her touch, and she savored the evidence of his need for her, but he warred with himself about something her muddled brain couldn’t solve, so she decided to take the decision out of his hands. Without any further thought, she reached for the hem of her shirt.

“What are you doing?” he growled.

Without an answer, she lifted the garment over her head and dropped it. She ignored her trembling fingers as she raised them to the front opening of her bra, and with a snap of her fingers, the hooks detached and she shrugged it off.

Her cheeks fused with heat. She’d never been as bold with another man, but she craved him in a way she couldn’t explain. Her mind had taken a hiatus the second he touched her, and she refused to overthink the reasons why. She wouldn’t allow logic to ruin this moment. It was simple. She wanted him, and unless he outright rejected her, she planned to seduce him.

Her numb fingers fumbled with the button of her jeans, but at that moment, he lunged at her, sweeping her up in his arms, and plundered her mouth.

His hands skimmed against the bare skin of her waist and moved them higher, until his generous hands cupped her breasts. A harsh cry echoed around them as his thumbs brushed against her tight nipples, drawing out sensations she grew more and more addicted to.A groan of protest escaped when he removed a hand, but when he tugged on the last remaining article of her clothing and the material ripped, she mewed in encouragement, hoping he would hurry.

Her hands skimmed underneath his Henley, and she sucked in a sharp breath as she encountered his hot skin. Not leaving him any room to change his mind, she fumbled with the shirt until it rested near hers on the floor.

She pressed close to him, searching and finding his mouth after they’d been separated. With his sculpted chest pressed against her soft one, her body felt scorched, as though she’d touched an open flame. Keeping his mouth on hers, he removed the tattered remnants of her clothing, and yanked down his sweats, kicking them out of the way.

“Slow down, darlin’. We have all night,” he growled as he nipped her lower lip.

Her hands splayed on his chest when a sudden thought popped into her head. She blurted out her question before reason planted its ugly head. “Can I touch you?”

A loud groan ripped from his throat, and he dropped his forehead against hers. His breathing sounded as unsteady as hers, but she had no idea when she would have another opportunity to explore a man, much less a man who was as beautiful as Kai. She waited for his answer, not wanting to rush him, or sway him one way or the other.

“I don’t know how long I’ll last,” he said through gritted teeth.

She pushed at his chest until he looked at her. He stepped back and put a little space between them. His silver eyes shone with a brightness that reminded her of the sun emerging from the clouds, and they blinded her for a second. She blinked to break the spell, and looked down at his powerful chest, heaving with deep breaths.

Moving with ease, she splayed her hands on the sinewy muscles and leaned forward, licking his damp pectoral, teasing him a little before her tongue flicked his nipple. She leaned back and blew lightly on the wet, heated skin. The muscles in his neck corded as he threw his head back and gasped at her motions. Taking this as a good sign, she repeated with the other, until a near-constant snarl vibrated through his chest, the seductive reverberation traveling through her.

“You’re going to kill me with your lips alone.”

Kissing her way down his stomach, she smiled against his skin at his statement.

“Not before I feel you inside me,” she teased.

She continued with her exploration, barely aware of his strangled groan, taking the time to caress his hips and run her hands over his powerful thighs and around to his taut buttocks, all while not allowing herself a peek at his erection. The anticipation of what she had yet to explore, and the examination of every inch of what made Kai, Kai, had set a deep, addictive throbbing inside her core. She wanted him to find the same pleasure that he promised in his gaze, so when she dropped to her knees, she allowed herself to take his cock in her hand. Instead of examining it as she would under normal circumstances, her tongue darted out and she had her first taste of his skin.

Unsure of how to proceed, she went with her instincts and flattened her tongue underneath the base, licking him in one long, fluid motion until she reached his tip. One last, long lick drew a shout that turned into a low moan as she opened wide and engulfed the head of his cock. She teased the tip, licking at his essence, before taking the rest deep in her mouth.
