Miriam's Rebirth by Pippa Greathouse

The latest book in the Strasburg Chronicles by Pippa Greathouse is now live on Amazon. If you haven't caught the series so far, you may want to know that it's possible to read Miriam’s Rebirth as a standalone book. But beware - these heartwarming romances can be addictive!

She needed someone to care for her: He wanted to be that someone. But would she allow it?

Blurb:

It was February of 1865. The Civil War had gone on for five years now. Flaxen-haired, blue-eyed Miriam Hanner Clarke was widowed at age twenty-eight, when her husband, Burton died in battle. Since then, she has filled her days of dealing with his loss by working in the dormitory, which had been turned into a hospital. No longer the quiet, shy, stuttering girl she had been when she arrived, Miri had blossomed into a competent young woman who was determined to ease suffering, any way she could.

But she was certainly unprepared for the challenge of caring for Captain Nate Alley, the victim of a gunshot wound, now under her care.

Captain Alley had no patience for being injured. He was accustomed to being in charge and having others submit to his leadership. When challenged by this tiny, independent and stubborn young woman, who was half his size, his first instinct was to put her over his knee. Growing stronger each day, he was determined that she would submit; she was just as determined not to.

Who was going to win this battle?

Publisher's Note: Miriam’s Rebirth is a sweet love story that includes the spanking of adult women. If this is not to your liking, please do not purchase the book.

Excerpt:

“I am not always the most patient man. Sometimes I speak before considering my words carefully enough. You have seen that already. But I am quick to apologize, when I know I am wrong. And I do try my best to look out for those who are my responsibility.”   He stopped, and rolled his eyes. “And I am doing a wretched job of trying to say this.” He lifted her chin, his eyes narrowed down at her. “Listen carefully, Miri.”

She kept her gaze upward, waiting.

“I told you this morning, that if you had any problems, you were to come to me. Do you understand what I meant by that?”

Miri shook her head from side to side, slowly.

“Well, damnation,” he said, frustrated. “I am totally inadequate at this. I think Dr. Foster must have removed part of my brain.”

A laugh bubbled out from her.

“And another thing you should know. I spank little girls who laugh at me.”

The Major and the spy. He was responsible for fighting for freedom. She was suspected of putting it at risk.

Blurb:

When Macie Welles followed her aunt’s wishes in intercepting a letter to General Howe, in January of 1778, she barely made it back alive. And she had no idea she would be captured by one of General Washington’s most fierce and trusted men, Captain and soon-to-be Major – Jake Wilde. When she was caught, a few days later, rummaging through the captain’s saddlebags, she had no idea her whole life was about to change.

Captain Wilde, forced to take her into his tent to strip her and search her, had no idea that, as he looked down into the pleading eyes of this dark eyed, golden haired, beautiful girl, she was about to steal his heart. Was she truly a spy? Could he possibly save her from the fate that awaited her now? Was it too late?

“What do you think I should do about that?”

She met his eyes, her own dark and wide. Her mouth trembled slightly. “I…do not know, sir.”

“Do you not, Macie? I believe you do know. Can I just let it go, in hopes that you will not swear again?”

“Yes?” her eyes met his, hopefully. “Please, sir? I shall be more careful, I promise.”

He shook his head, tilting her chin upward. “No, Macie Elizabeth. It would not be in your best interests for me to do that.”

She was trembling all over, now. “Please do not spank me, sir!”

“And if I let you get by with it this time, it will happen again. And again. I believe I know you well enough to depend on that.”  He turned her and began to pull her across his lap, guiding her face down. “I want you to think about this, Macie, as I punish you. I do not expect you to be completely still, but I do expect you to try. I am more concerned that you remember this, and learn from it. Do you understand?”

A sob escaped. “Yes sir.”  She gasped as he lifted her skirts up above her waist, and tugged at the ribbon that tied her pantaloons, and cried out as he lowered them.

The Return of Lucy Grace by Pippa Greathouse

Update: Pippa Greathouse's latest book is out today – March 16 –The Return of Lucy Grace.

He had grown up; handsome; respectable; trustworthy. But had she grown up at all?

Blurb

Gracie Kennedy had come across “Billy the Bully” Becker the first time, in the woods, when she was seven. He had frightened her terribly that day but had ended up taking her home. To a little girl, lost in the woods, that was what made her believe in him.

Coming home, after years of being away at art school, she was determined to make a success of her life, despite the fact that Strasburg was still a small town. Small, it might have been; to Gracie, it was home.

Now called “William,” Billy was a deputy in the sheriff’s department, and he was given some of the most challenging cases to solve. He was grown, well respected and looked up to—by everyone but Gracie, that is. Yes, he had grown up; but he was not at all sure that Gracie had. She had come back full of disrespect and quite unladylike language, something he was not at all inclined to put up with. And Gracie was about to find that out.

Excerpt:

It was then that she saw his badge. "You—Billy, you are on the Sheriff's Department?"

“That surprises you? And no one calls me Billy anymore. It is William, now. I grew up.” His eyes narrowed. “I am not sure, however, that you did.”

“How dare you insinuate that I—”

“Answer me, Lucy Grace.”

She tilted her chin up, defiantly. “Yes. It does surprise me.”

His answering expression showed amusement. “I see.”

“And I do not have to answer to you, Billy—William—Becker. Go to Hell.”

William’s brows rose. “Is that what they taught you when you went away to school? To swear?”

“So what if they did? I do not have to answer to you, or anyone else.”

“Oh, do you not?” He stared down into her face.

She remembered seeing him in the woods, when she was seven, and thinking how fierce he looked then.  He looked no less forbidding now. Her eyes widened.

“Watch your mouth, Gracie. I shall not tell you again. The next time I shall smack your bottom. And afterwards I may take you down to the stream to wash your mouth out with soap.”

She stared, and then looked away.

“I do not need you to tell me what to do, William Becker.” She said, irritated.

“Then control that mouth of yours, yourself, Lucy Grace. Or I shall do it for you.”

Cinderella's Lawman by Pippa Greathouse

Pippa Greathouse is back today with Cinderella’s Lawman book 3 in The Strasburg Chronicles. This book is selling fast and collecting great reviews. Here’s why:

He gave her an ultimatum: Be obedient or face the consequences.

Blurb Feisty little schoolteacher, Cinderella Barton, is quite tired of Deputy Henson Andrews telling her what to do. She came to Strasburg to take her first teaching position, and he begins lecturing her the first week, despite her efforts to ignore him. She moves from one boarding home to another, and at the end of the school year, she is forced to move into "Lady Angelica's Home Away from Home for Ladies," in the middle of the night for safety. Once there, she finally feels safe for the first time in months.

Henson becomes more and more determined that she will not ignore him any longer, especially when it comes to his efforts to keep her safe. It irritates him no end when she manages to put herself in harm's way. When she completely disregards his orders - with a bear in the area - and someone shoots at her through the window of the schoolroom after he ordered to stay away from it, his patience runs out. He finally decides to take her firmly in hand - and marry her - if he has to!

When one shooting becomes two and a kidnapping follows, Henson becomes even more determined to find out who was behind it. The main problem, however, is keeping his beautiful little wife obedient and safe. Keeping her safe - he is trying his best... but keeping her obedient? Henson begins to wonder just how many trips Cinderella will have to take across his knee before he will accomplish that task.

Publisher's Note: Cinderella’s Lawman contains mild sexual scenes and the discipline of an adult woman. Please do not purchase this book if this offends you.

Excerpt:

It had happened suddenly, and she gasped, beginning to fight, but was held fast, by his hand on her lower back.

“Henson! Release me—instantly—“

“Oh no, little missy. You have tried my patience all day long today, and I have had it with you. It is time that you learn I mean what I say. Do you understand me?”

He now was lifting her skirts and petticoats, and raising them upward

“Henson! Stop that—Henson, please!”

But in answer, he brought down a large hand, hard, on her bottom. Covered only with her pantaloons now, that had a split up the back, she squealed.

“Oh! Stop it!”

“I asked you a question, little missy. And I will keep this up until I get an answer.”

“Oh! No. Henson! Please—stop!” But his hand kept coming down. She was wiggling desperately, trying to move out of his grasp.

“Henson, I cannot handle this! Please!”

“I’m still waiting for my answer, Cinderella, and trust me, I can keep it up all day long.” His hand kept descending and she froze, over his lap.

“Cinderella?”

Still, she did not move.

“Talk to me, young lady.”

“Henson?”

“What?”

“I—I cannot remember the question…”  her voice was small now.

Five smacks later, he stared down at the wiggling little bottom that he held over his knee, finding himself terribly distracted. He wondered if he could remember it himself.

Merrie's Hero by Pippa Greathouse

Today author Pippa Greathouse brings two excerpts from her historical romance Merrie’s Hero, (The Strasburg Chronicles, Book Two). Read on! You know you want to!

So he thought she needed a husband’s discipline? Fine. It only strengthened her resolve never to marry!

Blurb:

Merrie had adored Francis Adams since she was a child. But when she was thirteen, he had scolded her and smacked her bottom, for letting her puppy run out into the street and then running after it. She had decided then, she never wanted to see him again. Ever.

Now, six years later, coming home from school, she was shocked to find that he wished to see her again, even more shocked when he asked to marry her. But as drawn as she found herself to him, she did not like feeling his chastening hand on her bottom. Francis, on the other hand, seemed determined to use it; whenever and wherever he thought she needed it.

Merrie had hoped for a marriage in which someone loved her desperately. She knew that she felt that way; but did Francis? The words I love you seemed as if they were destined never to reach her ears.

Or were they?

Publisher's Disclaimer: Merrie’s Hero is a historical romance, containing sexual scenes between husband and wife and adult spanking.

Two excerpts:

She was moistening her dry lips, still unable to raise her eyes.

"Tell me, Merriweather—"

"Merrie."

"Merrie," he acknowledged. "Are you still upset with me for threatening you, six years ago?"

She gasped, unable to believe he had actually brought it up. Pulling free from his arms, she took a step back.

But Francis, seeing how close she was to one of the staff with a serving tray full of champagne goblets, reached for her. When she saw his extending hand, she quickly backed up another step.

That is when it happened.

Francis could not reach her quickly enough to prevent it. The servant, with his back turned, did not realize until it was too late that Merrie was right on top of him and turned just in time to have the whole tray of full goblets knocked completely out of his hands. As it went flying, the ballroom erupted in gasps. Merrie, seeing the chaos she had caused, cried out in embarrassment. Francis reached for her once again, but she evaded his grasp and disappeared into the crowd.

And ran.

***

His wife stood in the center of the room, holding the towel in one hand, a mirror in the other, facing him. Slowly, he moved toward her. His face broke out in a broad smile.

"Turn, my little miscreant," he ordered softly.

She obeyed silently. Her dark auburn curls ended a little less than halfway down her back; but her hair was still thick and full. There was another layer below her shoulders that curled gently. Soft bangs brushed across her forehead, and tendrils escaped at her temples. With ribbons woven through her hair, the effect was charming.

"Adorable," he said softly. "Liliana, you have done well."

"Do you really like it, sir?" Merrie grinned.

"I was forced to cut off almost a foot and a half, Sir Francis. We shall not have too many choices in the way I can style it for a while. But I am quite pleased with it."

"So, perhaps now, sir…" Merrie's dimples were showing. "You can relax."

His smile disappeared. "Relax?"

Merrie could not miss the look in his eyes as he stared down at her. Her eyes were large now; his voice fierce.

"Merriweather Lynne Adams. You. Little. Brat!" He was punctuating each word now, with narrowed eyes, as he approached her. "Relax, you say?"

His eyes caught Liliana's expression of uncertainty, and he turned to her. "Leave us, please, Liliana."

The maid hurriedly curtsied and left the room, and Francis closed the gap between them and pulled Merrie roughly to her feet. Just as roughly, he threw her over his shoulder. "I intend to have a…discussion with you, young lady," he said, his voice gruff.

Striding into the bedroom, he sent the door to, forcefully, with his heel.
