A Naughty New Year by Kathryn R Blake

It’s almost the Lunar New Year – what better time to enjoy Kathryn R Blake’s novella, A Naughty New Year. This story is available as part of the Mischief under the Mistletoe anthology.

Blurb:

Even good deeds can get you punished.

Kelly Evans is nearly six months pregnant when her Dom husband, Jim, suggests they invite their closest friends over for a private New Year's Eve party. Just a friendly get together, nothing kinky, and no champagne for either of the girls, since Kelly's friend, Tiffany, was a month along further than she was. Given it's New Year's Eve, Kelly feels Jim's no-champagne edict isn't fair, but Jim warns her if she goes against his wishes, she will be punished. Though Kelly understands Jim's reasoning, she still feels he's merely being over-protective, and as much as she loves him a sip of champagne never hurt anyone. That is until now.

Disclaimer: A Naughty New Year is intended for mature readers. 18 and over only! Scenes include spanking adult women. If such content may offend, please do not buy this book.

Excerpt:

Kelly had told him often enough how much she hated being relegated to the guest bedroom, and as much as he preferred she sleep by his side, he would need to insist if she didn't submit, though he suspected neither of them would get much rest. In fact, he doubted she would last more than an hour apart from him, even if she chose that alternative.

"I don't want to go back in there," she admitted.

"And I'd prefer you stayed with me, but there are conditions for that, Kelly."

Her head lowered. "I know." As tears streamed down her cheeks, the robe dropped to the floor. "How do you want me positioned?"

Leaning over, he grabbed two of the pillows near the headboard. Rolling the first into a bolster, he laid it at the edge of the bed. "Bend over this so your belly rests on the other side of it. I'll place another just beneath your breasts.

She lay down as he directed, making no further appeal for clemency despite her trembling.

Once she was properly positioned and as comfortable as she could be in her situation, he ran a hand along the length of her spine. She shivered slightly, but didn't move.

"Good girl," he praised. "Now, tell me why you are here."

She hesitated long enough that he didn't think she'd answer, when she murmured, "Because I disobeyed you by drinking champagne."

"Correct. And why did you decide to disobey me?"

"Because it was New Years, and I didn't think a small sip would hurt me or the baby."

"Was that your decision to make?"

"I thought it was, but I guess not," she sniffed.

Since she couldn't see his face, Jim allowed a smile to curve his lips even as he kept his voice stern. "Trust me. It wasn't." When she didn't argue, he continued, "All right. Five whacks. I want you to count each one aloud, please. I will not deliver the next one until you've called out the previous stroke. If I sense you are deliberately holding back in an effort to delay your punishment. I will add strokes. Any questions?"

More about Kathryn R Blake

Although Kathryn is relatively new to the spanking romance market, she is not new to stories where the hero spanks the heroine. In fact, most of her novels have some sort of spanking in them. However, even in Kathryn's novels where the hero firmly believes in using spanking as a deterrent, he has no desire to cause the heroine injury and takes no delight in hurting the woman of his heart. In fact, sometimes he finds it extremely difficult to follow through on his threats or promises.

To date, all of her heroes are dominant, alpha males who are extremely protective of the women they love. However, part of that protectiveness includes the need for a certain amount of control. They do not suffer defiance or disobedience lightly. Even so, these men aren't infallible, and they do make mistakes, but love and respect will always triumph in the end.

Learning To Be Little by Kathryn R. Blake

Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas fits in with the season as well the book I’m looking at today. The amazing Kathryn R. Blake’s latest is now out! Called Learning To Be Little, Kelly’s Story: Unexpected Consequences book 3. It’s the story of a young woman whose childhood has been stolen from her. Having read a lot of this, I’m finding it hard to decide which hot snippet to share. I’m going to give you one from the start of the book.

She thought he was odd, he thought she was perfect

Blurb:

After a bleak childhood in foster care, Kelly's growing mistrust has her running away again and again. Homeless and penniless, with no relatives to harbor her and a penchant for escaping her caretakers, Kelly is finally handed over to one of the few parish orphanages remaining in existence until she turns eighteen, when she is released.

Possessing only a little money, few skills, and even fewer resources, Kelly's attempts at job hunting end up with her prowling the streets in desperation – until a wealthy stranger makes her a proposition she is too cold and hungry to refuse. Though it isn't until he takes her home that she realizes just what she's gotten herself into.

Publisher's Note: Learning To Be Little contains elements of power exchange, and dynamics of age-play as well as discipline. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase.

Excerpt:

"You should never interrupt Daddy when he's talking, pumpkin. You'll get spanked if you do it again. First thing we need—"

"But, how can I—" Kelly wasn't permitted another word before he wrapped his arm about her waist and bent her over. Whack.

"What did I say?" he demanded as his hand fell several more times in quick succession. He hadn't bared her bottom, but it still stung more than she'd thought it would.

"Ow. I'm sorry, sir. I won't do it again. I promise."

He delivered three more swats then let her up. She promptly rubbed her sore backside as he scowled down at her. "What do you say?"

"I apologize for interrupting, but can I ask a question, now?"

"No, you may not. I determine your age, Kelly. It depends entirely on my whim, but I'll make sure you understand the rules whenever I make a change. Let's get you out of those clothes and into a bath. You're in dire need of a firm scrubbing. Also," he said, fingering her dime store gold-metal necklace. "You will not be allowed any jewelry while you're with me."

"I won't?"

"No." He reached for the clasp.

"But my ears are pierced."

Pocketing her necklace, he examined both her earlobes. "Hmm. I don't like my girls to wear earrings, but I will permit you some very small gold studs to keep the holes from closing. We'll go out and purchase them tomorrow along with a few other things I think you'll need. I don't know why it is you young ladies today want to mar your bodies with multiple perforations." He removed the costume jewelry hoops she wore. "Have you any other piercings on your body?"

"No, sir."

"Good, because those you would have to do without." He took off her watch next.

"I can't even wear a watch?"

"No. There's no need for you to tell time since I will structure your day for you." He placed her necklace, earrings, and watch in a small plastic bag he drew from his pocket. "I will keep these and return them, along with your wallet and the money I gave you earlier, when we separate." As he undid the buttons of her blouse, Kelly studied his expression. He didn't have the glazed eyes of a man overcome with lust or desire. Instead, he regarded her clothes and body with clinical detachment. "I will bathe you, always. During that time, I will also shave you, if you require it. I prefer my little girls as hairless as possible where adult women often grow hair. We may eventually decide waxing is easier, but, for today, I will simply shave the hair off. In addition, I will take care of any of your other hygiene needs, like brushing your teeth, and braiding your hair.

"You intend to put my hair in braids?"

"Yes. Or unplaited pigtails, whichever I feel are more appropriate." He stepped back. "So, let's slip out of those panties and bra, shall we?"

Past Interference by Kathryn R Blake

It is my pleasure to welcome Kathryn R Blake back to the blog today. This time we are looking at her book Past Interference from Blushing Books.

As regular visitors to my blog may remember, all of Kathryn’s heroes are dominant, alpha males who are extremely protective of the women they love. However, part of their protectiveness includes the need for a certain amount of control.  They do not suffer defiance or disobedience lightly. Even so, these men aren't infallible, and they do make mistakes, but love and respect will always triumph in the end. Read on:

Love isn't always gentle and kind

Blurb:

When Jerry Douglas asks Elly Benson to marry him, he wants their ceremony to be as close to Valentine's Day as possible. Though Elly tearfully accepts Jerry's proposal without hesitation, as she readies herself for her second wedding, the doubts and misgivings of any new bride-to-be are exacerbated by the abuse she suffered during her first marriage. When Elly recalls how quickly her uncertain stomach jitters grew into tight knots of pain on her wedding day, she also remembers how and why she'd fallen in love with and married Arthur, her first husband. A mistake she regrets more and more with each passing hour.

Though she's lived with Jerry for four months now, and been subject to his discipline more than once, her first husband had been kind and careful with her, too, in the beginning. At least until she vowed to love, honor and obey him. And their move to Corbin's Bend turned him from the strict, but caring husband she thought she'd married into a monster she no longer recognized.

Excerpt:

When Elly seeks Jerry out at his vet clinic, but refuses to leave a message when she learns he's with a client, he returns home to check on her.

“What’s wrong?” Jerry asked with a glance at the strewn books before he rose to his feet and centered his gaze directly on her.

Elly groaned. The man was far too perceptive sometimes. “Nothing. I just thought I would drop by and check how you were doing.”

“Uh huh. Care to try that again, sweetheart?”

Her shoulders dropping, Elly confessed, “I think I’m getting another migraine.”

He crossed over and placed the back of his hand against her forehead. “Take anything for it?”

“No. Not yet. It only just started.” Okay, that was a lie, which would get her in even deeper trouble if he found out. She held still beneath his hand, but knew she was flushed, so she suspected he would be escorting her into the bathroom next.

He gave a brisk nod, then grabbed her hand. “Come with me.”

“Jerry,” she protested, but cut off her words with a grimace under his angry glare. Though he didn’t make taking her temperature a punishment, exactly. He did make it an exercise in obedience.

She stood in the bathroom while he retrieved the glass tube, shook it, and then liberally coated it with lubricating jelly. “Pants and panties down, now,” he ordered without looking at her.

With an inner groan, she obeyed and positioned herself over his knees when he sat on the toilet. They’d done this often enough after she’d been released from the hospital last October, so she should be used to it by now, but she never got over the way her former husband had punished her anally. Jerry questioned her almost every time they did this, but she was afraid he would decide an anal plug or a fig of ginger was an excellent way to get his point across, and she didn’t think she could willingly accept either of those punishments again.

She grimaced at the feel of thermometer sliding into her, but remained obedient and compliant. Jerry wasn’t trying to hurt or embarrass her. Not really. He was of the opinion that rectal temperatures were more accurate, so that’s what he used, and while they waited, he stroked her back and bottom to help her relax. Despite her uneasiness, his caresses calmed and centered her until she let out a soft sigh.

“Good girl,” he praised. “You always start out so tense when we do this, and yet you know I won’t hurt you, so I suspect it’s something Arthur did. We’re getting married in less than a week, Elly. Don’t you think it’s time you trusted me enough to tell me the truth?”

Getting to know Kathryn Blake with a few questions and answers:

How many books have you written and are they all spanking fiction?

"Past Interference" is my only novella, and my fifth spanking romance. My two other books are paranormal romances that have a bit of spanking in them, but aren't spanking romances by definition. So, all my books at least mention spanking and have dominant heroes struggling to protect independent heroines.

What advice would you have for writers who decide to try their hand at erotica?

My first advice would be to read several books in the genre. If you don't enjoy reading the stories, you aren't going to enjoy writing them. So make sure it's a genre pool you feel comfortable playing in.

How did you come up with your title?

The heroine was abused during her previous marriage, and though she knows Jerry, the hero, would never treat her the way her ex-husband did, memories from her past experience fill her with doubts about trying again. She never believed her first husband would end up hurting her so badly, so what if she's making another mistake. So, her past is interfering with her only chance at true happiness.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

That we should learn from our past mistakes, but not let fear of making another mistake keep us from trying again. If you let fear rule your life, you'll end up stuck and unhappy.

Who designed your book's cover?

Anthony Walsh is responsible for designing all of the Corbin's Bend covers. They reflect the individual characters while remaining consistent for the series.

Lessons in Love with the mega-talented Kathryn R. Blake

Today I am honoured to welcome Kathryn R. Blake to my blog. Lessons in Love is her sixth novel with Blushing Books, and fifth spanking romance where Domestic Discipline is primary to the plot. I am in awe and I can’t wait to read this book.

A member of the RWA since the early 1980’s, Kathryn also belongs to several local and special interest chapters.

Although Kathryn is relatively new to the spanking romance market, she is not new to stories where the hero spanks the heroine. In fact, most of her novels have some sort of spanking in them. However, while Kathryn's heroes believe in using spanking as a deterrent, they have no desire to cause the heroine injury and take no delight in hurting their partners.

To date, all of her heroes are dominant, alpha males who are extremely protective of the women they love. However, part of their protectiveness includes the need for a certain amount of control. They do not suffer defiance or disobedience lightly. Still, these men aren't infallible but love and respect always triumph in the end.

Kathryn enjoys traveling, reading, attending the theatre, and is a passionate lover of animals, so much so that in 2015 a stray cat adopted her. The stray now sleeps in Kathryn's bed. She has also recently taken up the expensive hobby of making and selling jewelry.

Her personal website, www.kathrynrblake.com, is filled with photos and links to information about her many interests as well as peppered with quizzes, contests, games and lots of other fun things to do and she loves to hear from her readers, so she has an e-mail link at the bottom of every page.

Lessons in Love

She knew she was flawed, he thought she was trainable. One of them was wrong.

Blurb:

Pam Weston didn't have many choices as far as employment went. Her prison sentence saw to that. With limited secretarial skills, and an even more limited budget, she never considered herself executive material. So, when she was ordered to report to the CEO of her company as his new personal assistant, she fully expected to be checking out the "Help Wanted" section of the paper before the day was over.

Robert Peterson knew his management style was not HR approved, but he believed in using the stick as well as the carrot. Employing the tenets of domestic discipline, he helped mold his personal assistants into confident women who recognized their own self-worth. Even so, his unorthodox methods were only one of the reasons many considered the position of his assistant to be a revolving door. To Rob's mind, Pamela Weston was perfect for his purposes, though given her past, he expected convincing her to agree to his program would be a challenge.

Excerpt:

Rob is setting the rules as he gives Pam a bath.

Though she longed to cover herself, Pam remained still, naked and vulnerable before him as he bent and swiftly lifted her into his arms. She let out a gasp of surprise, which he completely ignored. Two steps later, he slowly lowered her into the steaming water, which turned her skin pink but wasn't hot enough to be painful. Just the way she liked it.

"Temperature okay?"

Pam returned his smile. "Perfect. How did you know?"

Lathering up a washcloth, he shrugged. "I set it at the heat level I prefer. Baths need to be steamy, or I don't feel clean, unless I'm already too warm. Then I want a shower. Rest your hands on the side of the tub while I see about getting you squeaky clean."

He started with her shoulders and chest, but, when he lowered his hands to her upper arms, she tried to pull away.

"No. We have rules tonight. What were your instructions?"

"I'm not to speak or move without your permission."

"Correct. Did I give you permission to withdraw your arm?"

"No, sir."

"Disobedience requires a consequence."

Pam met his gaze. He wasn't smiling but he didn't appear angry either. Rather than question or argue, she waited for his verdict.

"Draw your knees up and part your legs for me," he ordered. His voice, husky and smooth like expensive whiskey, went straight to her groin. Though the bathtub was long enough for two people, it wasn't unusually wide. However, when she drew her knees up, she was able to spread them without difficulty.

He promptly reached between her thighs and stroked. "You are not to move. Understand? Disobey me again, and you'll get a smack instead."

Pam clutched the sides of the tub as his wicked fingers began their erotic torture. Letting out a soft moan, she struggled to keep her eyes open and her body still. When the sensations grew too strong, she whimpered with her need to come.

Bending his head, he positioned his mouth a fraction away from hers but didn't kiss her. "Good girl," he murmured.

"Rob…."

"You may come," he decreed before his lips swept down to claim her. Pam cried out as she wrapped her arms about his neck and climaxed.

Her breathing ragged, she gripped his broad shoulders, afraid to see his face. His disappointment. Except the feather-light kisses he placed on her cheeks and eyes did not indicate displeasure. Finally, he grasped her wrists and drew back to gaze at her.

Getting to know Kathryn R. Blake:

Are you like any of your heroines?

I'd say most of my heroines and I share some history. They are a part of me and share some of my feelings, but they are definitely different people. Most are much braver and fiestier than I ever could be, but then I'm more even tempered and easy going than most of the women in my stories, and I have fewer hang-ups.

How many books have you written and are they all spanking fiction?

Lessons in Love is my eighth novel, but only my sixth spanking romance.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

My heroine has a lot of issues, including a huge helping of self-doubt, but the hero gets her to see herself the way he sees her. She's not entirely convinced he's not nearsighted, but she does finally accept that he loves her and he isn't trying to change her into something she's not. So, despite all her problems, she is worthy of being loved.

Do you have anything specific you'd like to say to your readers?

Yes, I'd like to publicly acknowledge the help and support I received from a few individuals. Books require a team effort, so I'd like to thank Kate Richards for her editorial guidance, Celeste Jones for her insightful input, and Staci Taylor for overseeing the project.

As a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up?

My aspirations changed as I grew up. At one point early on I thought I wanted to become a doctor or vet, but I can't stand to see anyone in pain, especially not children or animals, so that bubble burst. Ballet always interested me, but I've got two left feet, so didn't get very far with that one, either. I loved to act, so I was a bit of a drama queen. In college, I majored in drama, but I identified too closely with my characters, so I gave up that dream to identify with my characters through writing.

What Internet site do you surf to the most?

Facebook. I never used to visit FB, but then I joined some writing groups and now it's one of the first and last places I visit.
