Holding Cynthia

I'll be back soon - in the meantime here's a taste of what's to come

The Leading Man and I are about to hit the road for five weeks or more. Of course I’m taking my laptop but I may be off the air for days at a time.

I'm excited to be going to the Blushing Books conference in Reno which runs from May 13th to 15th. Can't wait to meet some of the people I've only known online until now.

I will be home again in June, looking forward to the release of my next book with Blushing Books. The release date for Trusting Ingrid is June 15, 2018. This is book 3 in the Romancing the Coast series.

To pique your curiosity, here’s a small snippet:

Being a powerful woman had its advantages but very few of them extended to Ingrid’s love life. Her chances of getting anywhere with Lachlan might be extremely limited but she decided not to accept defeat without at least trying.

This simmering hot man needed a direct challenge.

“Who’s going to tan this backside?” she teased, punctuating her comment with a light slap to her own bottom.

Lachlan grabbed her right wrist, trapping her in front of him. His free hand rested on her left breast.

“I am,” he said. “In fact, when you bring me back from the airport, I’ll spank you as soon as you step out of line, just to let you know who’s boss.”

Desire exploded through Ingrid, but she didn’t want him to know it. Her libido had been dead for so long, she didn’t think anything could wake it up but here it was, in full force saying, shag this man.

She pulled away from him, rubbing her wrist as though he’d injured her somehow. He hadn’t. Not at all. She was rubbing her wrist, so she wouldn’t lose the feeling of his hand on it too quickly.

For weeks she’d been counting the dreary hours and minutes since her last drink.

Now she had something to look forward to. She’d be counting the hours until it was time to pick up the sexy man who kissed like a god.

Marine pilot.

Dangerous job. Brave man.

Surely she wouldn’t frighten him away.

#SatSpanks - Painful secrets

Thanks for visiting my blog! Today I have one last excerpt to share from Holding Cynthia, Romancing the Coast, book 2. Next week I have a new release coming out, A Time For Will. More about that time-travel, romance adventure later.

In Holding Cynthia, Antony has returned home after a week away. He finds Cynthia worried but doesn't know why. She's keeping a terrible secret: earlier that day her doctor delivered a life-changing diagnosis.

When Antony finds her pacing in the kitchen in the middle of the night, she tells him she’s simply anxious because of the move and all other changes in her life.

For the moment Antony decides to believe her:

“You’re too impatient, which isn’t surprising,” he said. “We live in a time of instant gratification. We expect to get over the changes in our lives as readily as we pick up a meal at a drive-through. You’ve got to give yourself more time. Live in the moment, let the deeper changes unfold naturally, in their own time. A month from now, six months from now, you’ll have new friends, new activities.”

Her tears slowed as she acknowledged his comfort. “I guess you’re right.”

“You know I am. You need to turn down the volume of worries. Just so happens, I can help you do that, help you get to sleep.” He grinned.

“How?”

“You. Across my knee...”

“That’s not a solution of any type, let alone a short term one.” She snorted.

“Well let’s try it because what have we got to lose? I’m going to paddle your bottom until you beg me to stop. And then I’m going to spank you some more. When you’re crying and limp, I will take you to bed and I promise you that you’ll sleep like a baby.” He pushed her to her feet. “Now present yourself.”

Reluctantly she lay across his lap, resting her chest and arms on the bed. He waited until she was in position then he fixed his left hand on her waist, rubbing her bottom with his right hand. “I want you to count as I spank you. If you miss a number I’ll start over again, do you understand?”

#SatSpanks - Wrong bet

Things are heating up in  Holding Cynthia, Romancing the Coast, book 2.

Antony has just asked Cynthia to marry him. Unfortunately he’s in another city and the proposal has been made by phone. Not the most romantic proposal ever.

Cynthia is taken by surprise:

“This just wasn’t what I was expecting so soon. I wasn’t really expecting anything. I’m trying to imagine myself telling Sadie. Telling my best friend Cherie. They aren’t going to believe it. Not by a mile.”

“Does that matter?”

“No. They have their lives. I have mine. I just have to think about it. I mean my immediate response is yes of course I will marry you.”

“Even though you know I will spank you when you misbehave?”

“Maybe we can negotiate that condition.”

“Or maybe we can’t. Now you need to answer one more question: who will be the head of our household?”

“I will?”

“You have to count of five to reconsider.”

The sternness of his tone turned Cynthia’s stomach to water. She said nothing. She loved him when he was tough.

“One,” he said.

“I’m thinking about it.”

“Three.”

“Hey!”

“Five. You’ve now added five more strokes to your spanking when I get back there. Do you want to try for ten?”

“Okay! You will be the head of our household. Geez. What happened to numbers two and four?”

“I didn’t say I was going to count by one’s. You shouldn’t gamble like that.”

#SatSpanks - Building trust

Thank you for joining me this week as I dig deeper into Holding Cynthia, Romancing the Coast, book 2.

Antony and Cynthia are in her new house. Her worldly possessions are on a moving truck, somewhere between Montreal and the West Coast. Antony has bought a big old armchair at the local thrift store and it has just been delivered to the basement bedroom.

The painters have just started work upstairs.

Antony is about to go out of town and leave her for a week or so. Because they have recently established a deep intimacy, Cynthia is anxious about the looming separation:

Antony shepherded her into the room and closed the door behind them.

He sat down on the chair. “I will not have you doubting me. Now present yourself and be grateful for the loud music upstairs.”

She hesitated for a half a second before she pressed her lips into a firm line, undoing her jeans. As she moved across his lap awkwardly, he helped her arrange herself. The wide right arm of the chair supported her torso. The other supported her legs. Her bottom was situated in the center of Antony’s lap, served up like a proper rump, ready to be roasted.

“Now did I tell you I would come back next week?”

Smack.

“Yes! You did.”

Smack.

“Correct. Do you have any reason to think I am lying?”

Smack.

“Ow. None. I’m just cautious.”

Smack.

“It’s good to be cautious. But not where I’m concerned. When it comes to me, I expect you to trust me. If you were standing at the window of a burning building and I told you to jump with no more than my outstretched arms to save you, you can be sure I would catch you. I would never let you come to harm. You may get up now.”

She struggled to her feet, embarrassed but strangely comforted by the moment he’d taken to reassure her.

#SatSpanks - When is a choice not a choice?

Fall has arrived here in the northern hemisphere but in the world of Cynthia Donohue, it’s springtime. She’s just taken possession of her new home. The previous occupants have left it in a mess so Cynthia and her friend, Antony, have spent the whole day cleaning it. Cynthia has an underlying illness that has left her exhausted from this effort.

Antony takes her back to their B and B and bathes her himself, while feeding her strawberries and champagne. Then he leads her into the bedroom where he has laid out a new sleep T-shirt he bought that day. She likes to sleep in full pajamas. He prefers her in the nude. The sleep T-shirt is his concession to her preferences.

One small detail: the sleep T is emblazoned with the words no pants are the best pants.

Another excerpt from, Holding Cynthia, Romancing the Coast, book 2.

They when into the bedroom where the new sleep T was laid out on the bed. Cynthia stopped and frowned. “I’m not going to bed already. It’s only six o’clock.”

“You don’t have to go to bed yet but you have to be ready for bed.”

She read the t-shirt as Antony toweled her hair. “No pants? I don’t think so!”

“Don’t you?” He stopped rubbing the wetness off her scalp. “I’ll give you a choice then. You can wear the T-shirt without panties, with a white bum. Or you can wear it without panties, and a red bum. How much do you want to argue? The other guests might be amused by the sound of a naughty girl having her bottom warmed.”

#SatSpanks - What happens to naughty girls?

Thank you for joining me for another excerpt from, Holding Cynthia, Romancing the Coast, book 2.

It’s possession date: Cynthia now has keys to the waterfront house she bought. Antony told her to arrange to have a locksmith change all locks but she decided not to. He’s not happy with this decision so he has asked her if she knows why he told her to do that:

“You said as a woman living alone, I shouldn’t trust that all the previous tenants and owners had turned in their keys.”

“And still you didn’t arrange to have the locks changed?”

“I completely forgot,” she lied. She’d decided she didn’t want to spend the money.

“What do you think happens to naughty girls who don’t look after themselves?”

Her pussy throbbed. She couldn’t stop the blush that burned across her face so she shrugged.

“That’s right. They get spanked.” Antony answered for her.

When he said those words out loud, it robbed her of control on a primal level. He was stepping forward, into her space, and taking ownership of her and her life. She loved the aroused, scary feelings that churned up at the sound of his stern warning. She didn’t want him to stop talking.

#SatSpanks - The new order

Thank you for joining me for another excerpt from Holding Cynthia.

Cynthia is in the middle of a move to a new city. Antony has joined her, turning her life upside down, including taking over as head of her household. She has a bad back. He has told her she is to go to bed and rest, while he goes to look at a new business (edited):

“A nap? I don’t think so. I feel fine.”

“Do you?”

“I do. I don’t need to go to bed in the afternoon like a toddler.”

“So you feel well enough for another spanking then?”

At those words, Cynthia’s body betrayed her again with a wet, tangled response. She ignored the burning in her face that was probably telling him all he needed to know about her feelings. “No thank you.”

“Those are your options.”

“What? Take a spanking and go with you or take a nap?”

“No. Your options are to take a nap, with or without the spanking.” Antony’s sharp-edged words, the finality of his determination, left no room for a comeback.

#SatSpanks - A gentle landing

This excerpt is from my book, Holding Cynthia. Poor Cynthia couldn’t lie still when Antony held her over his knee so he bent her over the bed for more serious treatment (edited):

Cynthia's ass burned but Antony kept spanking, his large, muscular hands raining down on her until her entire consciousness was filled with nothing but the pain and the sense of him possessing her. Then, to her horror, he started to lightly flick the top of her thighs. Being spanked on the bottom was bad. The thighs were one hundred times more sensitive. A thousand. She closed her eyes, gasped again, steeling herself for whatever horrible thing was coming next.

And then he stopped. He sat on the bed and helped her up to stand. He pulled up her panties and jeans before drawing her down to sit beside him. “You’re a good girl,” he said. “You took your spanking well for a first timer.”

When he embraced her, the entire world disappeared as she sheltered in his arms. She loved the smell of him, the deepness of his voice, the way he banished her worries to another dimension.

#SatSpanks - Learning to say thank you

Antony has started spanking Cynthia for the first time and she's discovered it's even worse than she thought:

Wriggling her powerful body as hard as she could, Cynthia almost squirmed off Antony’s lap. At that point, he stopped spanking her.

“I see you want to make this harder on yourself,” he said, helping her to her feet. “If you won’t lie still, then I have no choice but to bend you over the bed. C’mon then.”

He nudged her over to the bed, her hands still pinned to the small of her back, her legs hobbled by her jeans.

“Please don’t,” she whispered.

He turned her to face him. “If I stop now, you’ll never believe me in the future when I say you’re going to be spanked. So I’m going to do this right. I’m going to turn your bottom a memorable shade of red. It’s going to hurt. Then you are going to thank me.”

#SatSpanks - Making it easy

Antony is going to spank Cynthia for the first time. She has agreed to the punishment but she hesitates when it come time to bare her bottom. Antony decides to help her:

He thought for a moment before standing. Turning her away from him, he flattened his hands on her stomach, fingers splayed as he pulled her against his hips. His mouth brushed her ear, his breath hot on her neck.

“Let me help you.” His voice was a coarse whisper.

Before she could answer, he was undoing the zipper of her jeans. He grabbed a handful of fabric at each thigh and with a single tug, pulled her jeans down to her knees. In a second sharp move, he dragged her panties down to the top of her jeans.

She covered her mouth with her hand. A deep, animal-like noise rose from her throat.

He dropped back into the chair. “That wasn’t so hard now, was it?”

#SatSpanks - To all appearances, normal

My book, Holding Cynthia is about an independent, willful Cynthia who is fast falling love with Antony. They are sitting at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the ocean before she gets her first spanking:

“Finish your coffee,” Antony said softly.

The silence that filled the car after that exchange was mellow, undramatic. The dog walkers, hikers, and other tourists that walked past them would have seen nothing remarkable in the two people in the dusty car. How many would have suspected they were looking at an adult couple drinking coffee before they went back to their guest house for an afternoon of domestic discipline? No one. Cynthia was sure of that.

As she slipped her cup into the cup holder, she shook, feeling light-headed. Antony put his large, warm hand over hers.

“You need this, you know you do.”

Cynthia bowed her head, remembering how grateful she’d been when Antony had rescued her. A spanking would be a small price to pay for that.

#SatSpanks - the first lesson

My book, Holding Cynthia is about independent, willful Cynthia who is falling love with Antony, all too quickly. Last week he announced that he was going to spank her for disobeying an order. The conversation continues (edited):

His words hung in the air between them like a sudden frost.

Her mouth was chalk dry. “Spank me?”

“Yes, spank you. Bare your bottom and turn you over my knee. When you disobey me, I will punish you in the good, old-fashioned way. Do you understand?” His voice was level, calm. Most of all it was authoritative.

“What? You think I’m going to just submit to that?” Even as she asked the question her pussy clenched with desire and her fingers itched to touch him, to say yes with caresses. She wanted her body to consent so she wouldn’t have to say the words out loud.

“That is exactly what I think.” He didn’t wait for her to answer. “I’m going to spank you, gently this time because you’re new to the practice.

#SatSpanks - Ain't No Cure - new release

My vacation is now fading to a dim memory. The houseguests have gone home. What a great summer - now I have a new release. Ain’t No Cure was the working title for the book now called Holding Cynthia, Romancing the Coast, book 2. If you know the Leonard Cohen song, Ain’t No Cure For Love, you’ll understand my original choice of titles once you’ve read the book.

Prickly Cynthia Donohue wants Antony Jacobson, but believes she is past the age of falling in love. Antony thinks differently. He not only wants her, he wants to look after her, a job she has clearly been clearly neglecting. His loving affection comes with conditions: she must learn to obey him. When he tells her that she needs a therapeutic massage, she agrees. What she does after that medical visit prompts their first serious discussion (edited). Antony asks her why I decided to walk home:

“When I dropped you at the massage center, what did I say?”

“You said I could call you for a ride home.”

“No, I told you to call me.”

“Told, asked. Same difference.”

“When I tell you to do something, it’s not multiple choice, pick the most appealing option. It’s an order, pure and simple. Do you understand?”

“Yes, I get what you’re saying.”

“Remember when I warned you that last night’s smack might just be a starter if you didn’t behave?”

She nodded.

“I wasn’t kidding. When you fail to look after yourself, I will spank you.”
