London Lady by Heather Hart

Please welcome back Heather Hart, a British author who lives with her family in Maryland. She’s a writer of hot erotic and romantic fiction – an eclectic mix of innocence and dirt in a hyperactive imagination.

Today we’re looking at Heather’s romantic roller coaster London Lady which offers love, sex, murder, and a pair of villains to drive coffin nails through your heart!

Based on a true story, London Lady is set in the 1960’s when the city of London is gripped by fear as two notorious mobster twins make their mark north of the Thames. Like all smart criminals, they have legitimate businesses too and Claire Fisher enters their world when she takes a job as hostess in one of their nightclubs.

There she meets Bill "Lucky" Underwood. He's their major crime lieutenant, and she knows falling for someone like him is dangerous and stupid. Claire will do anything not to get mixed up in their violent world, but Lucky proves a hard man to say no to....

Excerpt:

"So why did you come back tonight?"

"To see you."

She laughed. "No really?"

"Really, I mean it. I was watching you all night in the mirror behind Ronnie. When those idiots put their hands on you I saw red. They're lucky they got off as easy as they did. But after they left I got to thinking. What if they came back? What if they waited until we were gone to get their own back? It can happen in my line of work. I see it all the bloody time. In fact, I couldn't stop thinking about it, so here I am."

"My guardian angel?"

"If you like, yeah."

She smiled, and as she stared at the pavement she felt his skin brush hers as he took her hand. She felt him squeeze it, gently. Inside her head told her to let go, to push him away. This life was not for her. This was not what she wanted. Womanizer or no - there was real danger around him; the kind of shit only a fool would get mixed up in. She knew how her uncle was, and the kind of brute he could be. And he was only small potatoes. Lucky here was mixed up with the read deal. And yet every argument she had, every doubt she cradled, every fear she felt; suddenly none of that mattered. He was holding her hand, and God protect her, she was a fool in love.

"I'm sorry," he said.

"Sorry?"

"What I have to offer - well, it's not going to be easy."

"What are you offering?"

"I want you to be my girl. Ever since I met you, I've thought about you - - about us. About how it would be if we were together. Haven't you?"

She kept her eyes lowered, not wanting him to read what was clearly written on her heart. At least, not yet. "Oh Lucky, I've heard so many things. I can't lie to you, I have to say, I'm a little bit afraid of you. All that business with uncle Frankie...."

He pulled her around to a dead halt; his eyes searching hers. "But do you feel anything for me?"

There was no use lying. Face to face like this her eyes betrayed her. She nodded. "I do."

"And you want to be with me, too?"

"I do."

"Then nothing else really matters, does it?"

With some force of will she pushed him away and resumed her walk along the pavement. "If you were any other man I would say that was true, but you're not any other man, are you? You're with the Kray boys. And don't say they're not as bad as the Richardons 'cos I know it's not true. I've heard stories, Lucky, the kind of stuff that gives little kids nightmares. Now I'm not saying I believe any of it, but if it is true... well... I dunno. I'm such an ordinary girl. All I ever wanted was to meet a nice man, get married, maybe have a couple of kids, just like my mum did. In a million years I wouldn't have imagined this. I think a lot about you, I really do, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a bit afraid of you, too."

He laughed. "Of me?"

"Yes. You're part of it, aren't you? Oh God, I just don't know, I really don't."

He pulled her to a stop again. There was a solid brick wall along the side of the street and he nudged her gently back toward it. Her heart beat wildly; if anything was true it was that she wanted him to kiss her now, so badly. She'd said her piece, but her body ached for him; for his gentleness, for his cheek, and yes, if she were completely honest with herself, for the danger too. In him they all came together as one; an irresistible, provocative package, and she wanted him more than anything else in the world.

He brushed the back of his knuckles gently along her cheek and as he bent his head to kiss her, her last defense melted away. She loved him. Somehow, in spite of her reason, in spite of his life-style, in spite of everything, she loved him. She would be his, body and soul, and as his lips brushed hers, her heart surrendered completely. She had no choice now, she would take a chance, and as he pulled her into his body she gave herself up to an unknown destiny, one that only fate could decide. She closed her eyes, ignored her fears, and just let it happen.

Hold Fast by Heather Hart

Please join me in welcoming the gorgeous Heather Hart back to my blog. This week we are looking at Heather’s new masterpiece, a historical romance Hold Fast from Blushing Books.

What do you do when you fall in love with the son of your family's sworn enemy?

Blurb

Bonnie MacDonald lives on the wild and beautiful Scottish Isle of Skye. Her life is peaceful enough, apart from the ever-simmering feud between the McDonalds and the McLeods, who live to the north of them. But now her father is going to die, and it is not to be a Highlander's glorious death in battle, but an underhanded assault in the dark by a traitorous servant. That same treacherous fiend had once come after Bonnie, but at the last moment she was rescued from violation and murder by the one man she cannot show gratitude to, the son of her family’s sworn enemy, Rory Mòr MacLeod.

And yet she falls in love with her rescuer, and he with her, and there never were two more star-crossed lovers. Neither family will readily accept a union between them, but Rory does not give up on making her his own, though Bonnie often misconstrues his intentions. Matters are further complicated when they discover that Bonnie’s guardian harbors a secret passion for his beautiful young ward, and soon claims her for himself.

But everyone’s plans are foiled when another suitor for her hand kidnaps and whisks Bonnie away to a lonely house in the north of Skye. Her only chance is to flee her captor and seek sanctuary in Rory’s castle at Dunvegan. But while Bonnie fights for her own survival, the battling clansmen bring their families to the brink of war, and all for the love of the same woman.

Hold Fast is a historical romantic suspense novel; it is also a sweet romance with no illicit sexual liaisons. The story is based loosely on real events leading to the Battle of Coire Na Creiche, also known as the Wars of the One-Eyed Woman, fought on the Isle of Skye in 1601.

Excerpt:

It wasn't that I disliked Rory Mòr MacLeod. What I felt was more akin to pure hatred. I watched as the boy my cousins and I had all called the wee terror of the glen skipped along the banks of the Sound of Sleat as if he owned them. My stomach turned. My father warned me not to mess with the MacLeod scum, and I knew his warning was not without cause. Rory was the favorite son of his father, and the MacLeod clan had been warring with my family forever. What's more, I had cause of my own, for the spoiled brat liked nothing better than to tear my skirts and pull at my braids.

He scampered along, driving an ancient, scrawny cow ahead of him. Rory held his head high, like a strutting peacock, all the while urging the decrepit beast on from the lush green pasture located a short distance from the shore. I had no time to spare for the black-haired, black-fingered, ill-mannered ruffian that he was, so I turned away, pretending I hadn't seen him, and carried on with my work.

"I see you, Bonnie MacDonald. 'Tis a fine day, is it not?"

"Aye, it was, before you came along, Rory Mòr MacLeod."

He paused, a cocky grin spread across his young face, and he leaned upon his staff and looked down at me. "Now that's no way for a lass to talk to a Highland clansman."

"Away with you, you gormless fool." I looked at the poor beast at his side, noting the sharp contours of her bony ribs. "I see that your betters have entrusted you with the pick of the MacLeod crop. It would be better to put that poor animal out of her misery, would it not? What are you thinking, driving such a wretched thing this far south and in this heat? 'Tis a wonder she doesn't die of old age before she makes it home."

He shrugged and watched as I continued to wash the wool in the sea. I kept my head down, hoping he would go away, afraid he would set on me as he had so often done before and make me cry. His silence made me uncomfortable.

"What are you doing so far from the safety of Dunvegan? These lands were taken from you long ago, you've no business here now."

He looked across the land to the distance peaks of the Red Cuillin. Swinging on his staff, he addressed me as if I were still a child.

"A traveler has the right of passage, whichever way his path takes him, does he not? If you must know, the cow is old, and belongs to a kinswoman who lives not too far from these parts. She bade me slaughter her, for she could not. I'm taking her to the market in Saaisag, as I'll get a fair price for her there. As you see there's not much meat on her bones, but she's added plenty of calves to my aunt's stock over the years; so don't judge her by how she looks now, Bonnie."

"It's not the cow I'm judging. What is your aunt thinking, living this far south, so far away from the protection of her kinsmen?"

"The MacDonald's have their people in the north, do they not? Or would you draw a line across the island and keep everyone in their proper place? Any road, if it were not for my childless aunt’s love of me, you would like as never have had the good fortune to meet me. Many a summer she begged me play at her heels, to drive out the loneliness in her heart. I was glad of it. She’s a fine woman, and I do whatever I can to ease her burdens, no matter how far beyond the castle wall she lives."

I looked up, my hands still in the cool water as I scrubbed the freshly cut fleece. There was a swagger about him I didn't like and I wished with all my heart he would go away and leave me to my business.

"Look, is there something you're wanting or are you going to make that wretched cow stand in the sun all day?"

"Ah, well, she'll be well enough, I'm thinking. I was wondering about your good cousin, Donald? He has been the talk of my clansmen of late."

My eyes narrowed suspiciously. "I can tell you he's not been asking after you. Why would he? Are you up to more of your treachery, Rory MacLeod? Do you and your clansmen have nothing better to do than continually plot against mine?"

"Oh, our business would be nothing to a wee sprite of a lass like you." He cocked his head to one side. "You look different. Your hair? You used to braid it."

"I'm not a little child anymore."

"No, Bonnie, I see that you're not."

Spy Games Book 1: Assassins by Heather Hart

Please join me in welcoming British author. Heather Hart who lives with her family in Maryland. She’s a writer of hot erotic and romantic fiction – an eclectic mix of innocence and dirt in a hyperactive imagination.

When she’s not frantically scribbling away she’s a cat worshipper and curry fanatic.

Today I'm looking at her novel Spy Games Book 1: Assassins from Blushing Books, an appealing mix of espionage and BDSM. It's a corker! Read on...

Blurb:

Undercover submissive falls for her mark,

Fresh out of training, the Agency sends Kassie Shannon into the secret world of Robert Redmond. They know he’s using his billion-dollar software company to steal sensitive information. What they don’t know is who he is selling the stolen information to, and it’s her job to find out.

He is a highly organized and secretive individual, and gaining Robert’s trust will be no easy task. But his Achilles’ heel is his passion for the BDSM lifestyle, so she poses as a trainee submissive and puts herself in his path.

Naturally cautious, Robert has never let a woman get under his skin. Until now. There’s something appealing about this inquisitive brunette with her oddly changeable personality and her passion for all things painful. He agrees to become her master, but soon falls for the chameleon beauty who is quickly becoming the most promising novice he has ever trained.

For Kassie there’s one big problem, though. The first rule of spying is not to fall in love on the job. Yet it’s hard to keep a professional detachment when your mark is all you ever wanted in a partner, and one who keeps opening doors to pleasures she never knew existed.

Still, sooner or later she will have to choose between two opposing demands—the cause she believes in, or the man she is bound to. Whichever choice she makes, it is likely that no one will win.

Excerpt:

To the right of him was her sitting room. It was almost exactly what he expected; chairs covered with throws and cushions, books everywhere, but cute in a disorganized sort of scholarly way. Without invitation he stepped inside, removed his jacket and hung it carefully over the backof a free chair.

She remained awkwardly in the hallway, totally unsure of herself. He liked that. He extended his hand to her.

"Come here."

She did as he bid, and he took her hand as he sat down on her sofa. She looked confused when he didn't pull her down beside him; instead he maneuvered her squarely in front of him and sat back as far as the cushions would allow. Then he did nothing. He just sat there, checking her over, waiting for her to wonder what was going on. Oh, he would get there, but not yet. He wanted her to feel uncomfortable first. That was a good place to start.

Sure enough in just a few seconds her hips lilted, and her stance became a little more aggressive.

"What do you want to do now?"

He adjusted his tie, straightening it rather than removing it. "Take off your top."

"Don't you want to undress me?"

"No."

He wouldn't ask her again. She wanted to try the submissive life, well, this was being submissive, to respond without question, to feel the thrill only found beyond her comfort zone. If she responded, then he would stay. If she clearly wasn't playing along, he would fuck her and never see her again. Everything hung in the balance.

She bit her lips and began unbuttoning her blouse. Her fingers fumbled, but, button-by-button, the silk opened, revealing the pale, well-toned skin below. Gently she shrugged the fabric off her shoulders, then stood, her hands crossed in front of her breasts, nervous.

"Turn around and step out of your skirt."

Getting to know Heather Hart:

Tell us about Spy Games – Assassins.

Assassins is a power-play story about a novice spy.  She masquerades as a submissive to bring down a man thought to be selling secrets to the enemy. But what begins as a mission soon turns into a journey of self-discovery, in a world where nothing is quite what it seems. The idea came out of nowhere and it’s been a lot of fun writing about Kassie and Robert. They get up to a lot of naughtiness and always manage to surprise me.

Can you tell us what you are working on now?

Sure.  ‘Kinky Assassins’ and ‘Stolen Love’ were released together in November, and the third in the series, ‘A Swinging Christmas’ will be outin December. So the next book will actually be the fourth in the series – and at the moment it’s tentatively called, ‘The Player’s Club.’ Like most of my stories I’m thrashing it out in my head first, but once I have a strong outline, it won’t take long to get it down.

What books have most influenced your life most?
Oh, so, so many - - it’s hard to pick a few. I have always adored Oscar Wilde, Hardy, Austen and Dickens. But I like modern stuff too, and go gaga for the Harry Potter series, just like everyone else. The first erotica I ever read was, ‘The Story of O.’ And yes, it turned me to on read it. It’s a great example of well-written erotica.

Is there one subject you would never write about as an author? What is it?

I won’t be writing a mathematics book any time soon – just saying.

What item, that you don't have already, would you most like to own?
A Mercedes SUV. Too shallow? I don’t care. GIMME ONE.
