Happy December everyone! I’m not quite sure how we got here so fast. It seems like just last week we were picking blackberries and swimming in the lake. Still, I love this season: the music, the parties, and the surprises it brings.
That’s why in my book, Sadie Says I Do, Simon and Sadie have a December wedding. Here they are after the ceremony and celebrating is over:
We spent the first night of our married life in our new home. We’d both had our fill of airports and hotel rooms for the year. In our cozy bedroom, Simon set a fire while I watched.
“Present the hairbrush,” he said as he sat back and watched the flames lick around the logs.
I hesitated, perhaps unwisely. “Why?” I asked, unaware of having broken any rules.
“Reason number one,” he said and nodded toward the bathroom where the Maison Pearson was kept.
I brought the hairbrush, thinking of how sometimes spankings were the worst idea ever, but I kept my thoughts to myself. Simon laid it beside him on the bed and nodded at me, the sign for me to submit.
I dropped my panties, lifted my skirt, and crawled over his lap for one of the gentlest spankings ever. He only used his hand. A ten-year-old with a sprained wrist could have done worse.
“Why do I do this?” His voice was light with laughter.
“Because you love me.”
“When will I shop doing this?”
“Never, I hope.”
“Correct.” He delivered two sharp swats to the top of my thighs and said, “Sit on the floor, in front of me. I want to free your hair.”
Carefully and painstakingly he undid my complicated hairdo, stacking up the hairpins in a pile and placing the roses and holly leaves in a row beside them. Finally he used the Maison Pearson hairbrush to comb out the tangles and brush away the gel and spray that held it together.
