Spanking romance

Life imitating art

I’m a worrier. I worry about social injustice, climate change, animal cruelty, racism, child poverty…the list goes on.

One of these issues seems to crop up in every book I write, either directly or indirectly.

The basic premise of His Land, His Law was inspired by days of wonderful hiking in the forests of Salt Spring Island (one of Canada’s Gulf Islands). His Land, His Law is about competing claims on an important tract of forest. Both of the main characters have indigenous roots (Luke is 1/8th Tsawout and Cara is 1/8th Inuit). She wants to save the forest, he wants to reap the material wealth that would come with its destruction.

When they confront each other, there is major conflict which, of course, is resolved by the end of the book.

One of my main pleasures in writing is being able to give stories a Happily Ever After (HEA) ending. You know, the thing that happens far too infrequently in real-life.

The Gulf Islands have seen many chainsaw conflicts. Now, four and half months after the release of His Land, His Law, a new one has arisen:

First Nations at odds over logging of reserve land on Saturna Island.

As the article concludes, the decisions about whether to log or not are never easy, like a lot of environmental and social issues. Economics and preservation will always be at odds.

That doesn’t mean we should hide from the hard choices. So I touch on them gently in my novels, in the hope that visualizing a HEA might be one step closer to finding one.

What do you worry about? If you could have a single HEA today, what would it look, smell, and taste like?

Returning to Us, Corbin's Bend book 2, by PK Corey

PK Corey’s latest book Returning to Us is the latest installment in the Corbin’s Bend series. Set in an imaginary town in Colorado, this more than just the story of Hal and Susan. Many familiar characters from other books in the series make cameo appearances. All these books can be read as standalones, but you may want to start with this one. As the reviews testify, PK Corey delivers believable characters in situations that ring true.
Not only is PK Corey a good writer but she tackles mature love, an often missed dimension of the DD / TiH genre. Anyone who knows that love and all its wonderful dimensions deepen over time will enjoy PK’s depiction of its evergreen nature.

She needed the steadiness of the dominant husband she’d once had.

Blurb:

After thirty-five years, Susan thought her marriage was over the morning after their last child's wedding. Hal, her husband, said he needed to talk about something important. She knew it couldn’t be good. They rarely even spoke anymore. In the beginning they’d been so close, so passionate. Practicing domestic discipline had been a wonderful part of their lives—sometimes.
But over the years it had all drifted away, even when Susan asked for what she needed. He would occasionally give her a mild, sexy spanking, but the real discipline she craved was a thing of the past. Now, Hal suddenly wanted to talk about moving to Colorado to live in Corbin's Bend, a community where spanking was not only accepted, but encouraged. Could this bring back the closeness and passion they’d once had? Could Susan trust that this time Hal would truly step up?

Disclaimer: Returning to Us is a sweet romance intended for adults only. Spankings of adult women represented in the book are fantasies only, suitable for a mature audience only. Nothing in this book should be interpreted as Blushing Books’ or the authors’ advocating any non-consensual spanking or other sexual activity or the spanking of minors. If such content may offend, please do not buy this book.

Excerpt:

Hal guided her over his knees and began spanking. It felt delicious! His spanks weren’t so very hard, but they fully reignited the burn left by the paddle. Susan was squirming. When Hal dipped his finger into her moist center, she nearly came off his lap.
“That’s what I suspected,” he said sternly. “You are in trouble for blatant disrespect and you’re acting like you’re planning on some sexual adventure. You’d better plan on holding back and behaving yourself. If you come, I’m going to have to take my belt to you.”
This was pure playacting and Susan knew it. Hal used this tactic on rare occasions and only while roleplaying. Susan had no idea why this was such a hot button for her. It didn’t matter. These words, these threats released powerful emotions in her like nothing else. And Hal well knew it.
Standing her up, he removed the rest of her clothes. Hal laid her on the bed. “Just because you’re being punished, there is no reason I can’t have my fun.”
Susan watched as Hal removed his clothes. Her body felt like a taut violin string. She was ready to come at his first touch. But again, in a deep voice Hal warned her, “You’d better keep tight control, or I’ll make that belt sing.”
Susan was panting. If he said one more word, she was going to come without so much as a touch. She was fighting to hold off as long as she could. She arched up to capture him as he hovered over her. He half turned her over and delivered several sharp spanks.
“Now, now, none of that,” he told her.
Susan thought she’d lost her fight for control as he gently sucked on one nipple and then the other. Sitting up, he caressed her body, her belly and her hips and thighs, never touching where she needed him the most.
Hal lowered his head and kissed her mons. He slid his tongue down and flicked it rapidly on her hardened bud. Giving in completely, Susan felt an orgasm like no other she’d ever experienced surge through her. She gushed as Hal continued his ministering with his tongue. She rode the wave higher and higher, beating her fists on the bed and bucking with abandon.
As Susan slowly came back to herself, the only thing she was aware of was her body. The time, the day, her name... were all in a vague space of not caring. She was his, was the only coherent thought floating through her mind.

More about PK Corey

After spending thirty-six years in two careers I liked just fine, I’ve finally found my dream career as a writer. I’ve been happily married for thirty-five-years and my sweet husband has gotten used to the unique experience of living with a writer. He is very encouraging and an excellent editor when he’s pressed into service.
I’ve been intrigued by spanking stories since before I first saw Ricky spank Lucy. Stories of this nature were hard to come by before the Internet and the ones I found were a little harsh on discipline and very much lacking in love. So, I made up my own stories and enjoyed these in my head for years. I finally began writing them down. Although the lovely women in my stories are spanked often, the love between them and their men takes top priority.
My Cassie’s Space series shows a mature couple who are deeply in love. Despite loving Cassie’s free-spirited ways, Tom is determined to keep her safe, even if it takes a trip over his knee. And with her friend Sue by her side and all they get into, a trip over his knee is very likely. My new series, Cal’s Law, is about a younger couple. Though they come from very different backgrounds, love and discipline draw them together.
I love my husband, my kids, my cats, reading, writing and hearing from my readers. You can contact me at pk.corey@yahoo.com

Excerpt:

He shook his head and took them, moving inside the kitchen to set them down. When he turned back, she had stopped just inside the doorway. He crooked a finger at her. "Come here."
Her eyes, already large, grew wider as she slowly approached. He reached for her, holding her around the waist with one arm. With the other, he planted a hard swat on her bottom. She shrieked.
"That," he said firmly, "is for leaving the house without telling me. And this," he brought his hand down again," is for doing it the second time. After what happened yesterday in Denver and then in St. Louis, I would have thought you'd know better than to take off without letting me know." He released her, and she took a step backward, rubbing her bottom.
"Ow," she said in a small voice.
Looking at the bags he'd set on the counter, he reached for her. Putting his hands on her waist, he set her up on the kitchen island.
"Look, Emmy, I do appreciate you going and bringing back something to eat. But when I awakened and you were missing, I swear, it took ten years off my life. Can you understand that?"
She nodded. "I'm sorry."
His hands moved to her sides as he leaned forward, shaking his head. "Just don't do it again. All right? I'm utterly serious."
The expression on her face changed suddenly as she tilted her head at him. "Really?"
His own countenance grew wary and his eyes narrowed. "What does that look on your face mean?"
She wiggled forward on the counter and kissed his cheek. "It's nice to have someone worry about me."
His brows knit closer. He took hold of her waist and set her back down so her feet touched the floor, feeling as if he'd lost control of the situation. But she was rifling through the bags now and handed him a package of something, still warm, and a cup of coffee.
When he took it, she gave him a huge smile. Her dimples were showing again.
"Good morning," she said brightly.
"Good morning. Emmy, you do realize—"
"Yes, sir. I do. I won't do it again. There's a bar stool on the other side of the island, if you want to sit down. And there's a potato patty in the bag for you."
He shook his head and moved to sit down. Setting out the other stool next to him, he pointed to it. "Sit."
She shoved her food over in front of the other spot. "I didn't have any eggs, and everyone should have a good breakfast, so I thought..." She frowned at his expression. "Want me to take them back?"
He shook his head. "No, Emmy. I just want to make sure I made an impression on you, that's all. Because if you take off like that again, I'll put you over my knee and spank you."
She blinked up at him, pausing just out of his reach. "But—you said you weren't taking me to raise—I don't understand why I should have to ask permission to leave my own house and run errands."
"I also said I wasn't going to abandon you, if you remember correctly. Your safety is important, and I don't want you taking unnecessary chances with it. Do you understand me?"
Her expression was incredulous.
"Emmy?"
"No," she said softly. "I don't." She tilted her head. "Last night, when we were talking about Mark, you asked if he'd ever hit me. But you just did."
"What I just did was to give you a swat on the bottom, to get your attention so you'd listen to me. I was hoping it would let you know that I expect you to stay safe. Do you think it was mean?"
She lowered her gaze, thinking. "No, I suppose not."
"Did you think it was unwarranted? Suppose you'd gone off alone and someone had gotten hold of you and taken you?"
Her shoulders sagged, and he lifted her chin so her eyes met his.
"What I just did was for the purpose of keeping you safe. Because damn it, like it or not, I do care an awful lot about what happens to you. Abuse, Emmy, is hitting someone just for the sole purpose of hurting them and for no other reason. Usually, when a person abuses someone, they'll pick on someone smaller and less capable of defending themselves. An abuser does it because it makes them feel power over someone else, not because they cherish them and want to protect them.”
Light dawned in her blue eyes. "Ooh. I see. But you can't possibly cherish me, Jackson. I haven't known you long enough."
He took her wrist and reeled her in closer, sitting her up on the bar stool. "Don't be so sure. Now, eat."

Pippa Greathouse in her own words

An assignment by my elegant and sweet fifth grade teacher was what started it all. The assignment? To write a short story and read it aloud to the class.
Enter a story about a group of fifth grade kids camping in the woods who were attacked by a Grizzly; add body parts everywhere and kids being mauled to death one by one, and pile on top one horrified teacher (Poor Mrs. J!). The kids thought it was cool, however, and I was hooked.
Writing continued throughout Junior and Senior High, in the form of space stories, then spy stories, and by the time I reached high school, had turned into romances! Every year when spring fever hit, I would take my notebook outside at lunchtime, and soak up the sun, and write. Then I would take it home and type it up on onionskin paper, on an old Underwood typewriter (Yes, I know I'm old!)
One day a few years ago while cleaning, I came upon a tote containing a wad of onionskin paper, rolled up. I was delighted to find a story that I had written when I was about eighteen, and thought, "Hmm, I wonder what would happen if I sat down and re-wrote this? And submitted it?”
My favorite Heroine? One with intelligence, integrity, courage, and firm determination. I love to have the heroine and hero ‘make a difference’ in the surroundings and lives of others in the story.

And needless to say, my favorite hero is an "Alpha male" who loves his woman to distraction, but is smart (yes, in my opinion, smart is extremely sexy!) stern, and willing to be as strict as necessary to protect her from danger, even danger from herself.

Absolving Amy by RJ Gray

Today I’m pleased to welcome new author RJ Gray whose book Absolving Amy was released this week. Early reviews describe this as a hard to put down read – perfect for the February doldrums.

His job was to keep her alive, even if it meant doing so with her over his knee.

Blurb: Amy Johnson’s life is a series of bad luck mixed with worse decisions. One of those bad decisions was homicide detective, Ben De Luca. He is sexy, stern, and everything she could ever want, but her past forces her out of his bed and from his life. That is, until she finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now, she has no choice but to submit to his presence in her life.
Will she accept Ben’s protection and open herself up to his love, or will she allow the walls she has built around her heart to force Ben out of her life, for good, this time?
Publisher's Note: Absolving Amy is an action-packed romance contains graphic scenes as well as spanking and power exchange themes. Please do not read it if this offends you.

Excerpt:

“Broken people can't hold three jobs while acing all their college classes. Broken people don't help little kids feel safe, just by being in the same room as them,” Ben said without pausing in the swinging of his heavy utility belt.
Amy knew he was being sincere; she heard it in his tone.
The belt continued to fall as he spoke again, branding his words into her body. "You are mine, baby girl. You are beautiful, intelligent, and kind. I love you, and together, we are whole. Do you understand? You aren't broken or damaged. You are wonderfully whole, and you complete me."
His words touched her soul, the building of the internal storm finally coming to a head. A raw scream erupted from her lips as she imploded, the emotions tumbling from deep inside her outward. She collapsed onto the bed, sobbing. Her body trembled as Ben brought the belt down five more times, harder than she had ever felt before, the pain of each lash cleansing her. Then, she heard it fall to the floor with a thud.”

Taken as Theirs by Kryssie Fortune

Kryssie Fortune has a new book out. If you know her work, you know it’s going to be a mix of the weird and wonderful. Taken as Theirs is a lively, sexy visit to the paranormal world.

They’d buy her, free her, and persuade her to have werewolf babies.

Blurb:
As a breeder--one of the few fertile women left in a ruined, plague-ravaged world--Cassie would fetch a handsome price at auction, and selling her to the highest bidder was exactly what her captors had in mind... until two fearsome beasts decided to take her for themselves.
Eli and Dane have chosen Cassie for their mate, and when she makes a foolish attempt at escape she quickly ends up tearfully promising obedience as her bare bottom is soundly and shamefully punished. Her body's response to their stern dominance cannot be denied, however, and it isn't long before she is screaming out her intense, helpless pleasure as she is roughly and thoroughly claimed. But will Eli and Dane's pack accept a human girl or will Cassie be an outsider forever?
Publisher's Note: Taken as Theirs includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

Excerpt:

A tic started in Dane’s jaw. When he took a deliberate step toward her, Cassie panicked and ran for the door. Grabbing her around the waist, Eli dragged her toward the bed. He perched on the edge and pulled her over his knee. “A bare bottom spanking should remind you not to put yourself at risk.”
She hung, head down, feet kicking as she tried to break free. Eli planted his huge hand in the small of her back and pinned her in place. His touch felt like a warm caress that leached the fight out of her.
When he stroked his free hand over her bottom, her cunny dampened. His voice turned raspy and hoarse, as though he struggled to speak. “When I’m done, Dane will punish you for making him dive into that swell. Those waves could have battered you against the barge or washed you away. Your actions were inexcusable, whatever your motives.”
He shoved the baggy jumper he’d loaned her up around her waist, baring her bottom. Hissing in a breath, she kicked and struggled, desperate to escape his grip. He tangled his legs through hers and stroked her bare bottom. “Stay still, princess, or I’ll double your punishment.”
Cassie’s head-down, bottom-up position made her feel defenseless and weak. No one, not even her parents, had ever laid a hand on her. Even in human form, werewolves were super strong with enough stamina to keep them going for days. Hell, if he hit her too hard, he could shatter her spine. She’d been an idiot to think these dominant males had a kindly side.
Cassie lifted her head and tried to catch Dane’s eye. For all his stern exterior, he could stop Eli from spanking her—she hoped. “Please don’t do this. I’m sorry. I was stupid, okay? Isn’t it enough that the pair of you scared me half to death yesterday when you busted me out that castle? Now you’re going to beat me for trying to get away from killer werewolves. I’m begging you. Let me up, please.”
Dane surprised her by crouching beside her and smoothing her curls back from her face. He gathered her wrists in one hand and stared into her eyes. “We’re sorry we scared you when we sprang you from the vampires. Not that you gave us much choice. I’m going to stay beside you while Eli spanks you. Keep your eyes on me.”
She’d thought Dane was the stern one who’d do anything to get what he wanted. The way he reassured her helped, but she still wriggled and kicked to get free.

Getting to know Kryssie Fortune – and author Q&A

Tea or coffee?
Coffee. I must be one of the few Brits that loathes tea.

Starter or desert?
Starter, every time.

Walk or ride?

Assuming it’s a short journey, I’ll always walk. I live on the coast and try to walk on the beach every day.

Film or book?
Always the book. I can picture it my way then.

Vampire or Werewolf?
Since most of my paranormal romances feature werewolves, I’ve got to say werewolf

More about Kryssie Fortune

Kryssie lives by the beach and loses track of time when she writes. Her days are full of dashing regency rakes, former soldiers so handsome they make her drool, and the sexiest werewolves ever. The odd vampire makes it in there too, but when he does, he’s drop dead gorgeous.

Her pet hates are unhappy endings and cliff hangers. She guarantees you won’t find either in her books. Her books sizzle with sensual heat, but story always comes before sex. Even when part of a series, her books can be read as stand-alone romance.

Before being tied up with Christmas, what was Yule?

A pagan midwinter festival

It was celebrated by Germanic peoples and was connected to Norse mythology. With Odin being the Yule Father who led the Wild Hunt across the sky. Yuletide is about two months long and falls roughly mid-November to early January. In the middle of Yuletide is Yule.

As a fun side note, jolly most likely has its origins in Yule.

The French word for Christmas is Noel. What was its original Latin meaning?

Birth.

What was the original title of The Night Before Christmas?

A Visit from St. Nicholas

It was anonymously published in 1823. It has been attributed to, and claimed by, Clement Clarke Moore but there is some controversy as to whether he actually wrote it.

Claiming Mia by BJ Wane

BJ Wane is here today with her latest book, Claiming Mia. Reviewers are calling this “a great smoking hot story” and “interesting and fast moving, […] a good balance of a mystery and an enjoyable love affair.

She gave him her body and submission, but he wanted more.

His arrogance gets under her skin, but it’s her body’s instant reaction every time he levels that cobalt gaze upon her or hints at giving her what he keeps insisting she wants that really gets to her. Nolan wants Mia and refuses to let her prickly stubbornness stand in his way. Once he entices her into an affair and shows her the benefits of submitting to him, her off-the-charts responses prove he was right all along – she is the one for him. When his investigation into an illegal drug ring implicates Mia’s business, he never stops believing in her innocence.
When the Feds go around him, Mia refuses to believe he hadn’t been with her just to keep an eye on her and her nursery for proof the drugs were coming in on the trucks carrying her landscaping orders.
Mia’s reluctance to trust Nolan completely lands her in trouble with a drug trafficker and it isn’t until she is kidnapped that she realizes what her insecurities and refusal to let go of the past might have cost her…

Excerpt

“You want to spank me instead of giving me a ticket?” Mia didn’t know if her stunned disbelief stemmed from outrage at his audacity or the instant pickup of her heart rate which caused her blood to heat in a volcanic rush through her veins at the thought of his large hand connecting with her butt.
“In the worst way,” he admitted with candor, not bothering to hide the truth. Then again, when had he ever held back from letting her know where his interests laid, she bemoaned.
They both heard Mia’s convulsive swallow as she contemplated her choices. It came down to she couldn’t afford an increase in her premiums. A shiver rippled down her spine as he pressed closer and his warm breath tickled her neck when he nipped the tender skin. Okay, maybe the strain on her finances wasn’t the only reason she was giving his suggestion serious consideration. If she could sate her curiosity about the way her body was always so quick to react to his sexual innuendos about putting her over his knee, remarks she never imagined would titillate her before the divorce, maybe she could get him out of her mind once and for all.
Taking a deep, nerve-bracing breath, she muttered in a whisper, “Fine,” as if there might be someone around who could hear her. “I’ll meet you…what?” she gasped, incredulous as he spun her to face the truck and hiked up her skirt. “Here?”
“No time like the present. Don’t worry, Mia, my body is blocking yours, but even if I wasn’t, no one driving by can see back in this far.” With a hard yank, he drew another outraged gasp from her when he tore off her panties.
Warm summer air wafted over her exposed buttocks for the first time in her life, shocking her when the sudden outdoor exposure elicited a thrill of excitement. Before she could grasp the significance of that, he palmed her right cheek and squeezed, the instant pleasure from his touch taking her breath away.
“Just as I thought,” Nolan rasped, bending his head to nip her earlobe. “Soft and malleable. And so very…spankable.” He drew back and slapped the same cheek, a light smack that tingled more than hurt.
Mia shut her eyes against the warm dampness filling her long-neglected pussy, mortified by her response to what should have been an abasing experience. The next swat covered her other cheek and was just as potent as the first. Her tense muscles relaxed, and she was thinking this wasn’t so bad when he delivered a harder smack that jiggled her flesh. A small cry slid past her compressed lips, but he didn’t give her time to balk or complain as he set about peppering her butt with a volley of spanks, alternating between light and hard enough to sting while moving back and forth between her buttocks. A slow warmth enveloped her entire backside, along with small prickles of pain as the slaps grew sharper. Unable to help herself, she lowered her head to rest on her hands braced on the truck and tried to ward off the escalating pulses spreading down to her sheath. A part of her couldn’t believe she was letting him do this and an even more insane part couldn’t fathom the escalating arousal the embarrassment and discomfort added to.
Nolan stopped and caressed her buttocks, the now soothing strokes calming her riotous senses. “I knew you had a submissive streak worth exploring,” he said in a rough tone.

BJ Wane in her own words:

I live in the Midwest with my husband and our dog, a lovable Great Pyrenees/Standard Poodle. I love dogs, enjoy spending time with my daughter, babysitting dogs and kids, reading and working puzzles. We have traveled extensively throughout the States, Canada and just once overseas, but I now prefer being a homebody. I worked for a while writing articles for a local magazine but soon found my interest in writing for myself peaking. My first book was strictly spanking erotica, but I slowly evolved to writing erotic spanking romance with a touch of suspense. My favorite genre to read is suspense.

A new release - His Land, His Law by me!

My latest book, His Land, His Law, is live today. I loved writing this time travel-paranormal romance so much, I keep wanting to call it, His Land, His Love because Luke is a very loving character.

Blurb:

Since she inherited her parents’ home, Cara Eckford has used walks in the nearby woods as inspiration for her art, so she is shocked and upset upon finding that ‘No Trespassing’ signs have recently been put up on the property. But when she angrily confronts the land’s new owner, the infuriatingly sexy Luke McCrae, she merely earns herself a stern scolding and a sound spanking.
Despite her irritation, Luke’s bold dominance leaves Cara’s heart racing and her panties soaked. He soon proves more than ready to tame her fiery temper with his belt applied to her bare bottom, but even with tears in her eyes and her backside on fire Cara’s need for Luke cannot be denied, and when he takes her in his arms his masterful lovemaking satisfies her deeply.
Cara’s newfound romance with Luke grows stronger and more passionate with each passing day, but when conflict over his plans for her beloved forest threatens to tear them apart, can she make use of her powerful connection to both of their ancestors to convince him to change his mind?

Publisher’s Note: His Land, His Law includes sexual scenes and spankings. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

Cara wants to save the forest. Luke wants to log it. He wins the first battle. Who will win the war?

Excerpt:

We join Luke and Cara mid-spanking. She has accepted a spanking rather than face the police after she has gone into his house when he wasn’t there:

[Luke] sighed like a man doing a difficult but essential job. “But you’re not sorry enough for my purposes. I’m going to continue until I’m sure I’ve left a lasting reminder. I may even continue until you beg me to stop.” He rubbed one cheek then the other, an almost soothing gesture except for the fact that he was telling her the session wasn’t over. “I will stop when I think you have a lasting reminder of the consequences of your misbehavior. Some of the websites I’ve read say true contrition can only be reached if I bring you to tears. Do I need to make you cry, baby doll? Is that the only way you’ll believe I mean what I say?”
“No, you don’t need to make me cry. I’m upset enough as it is.” Cara’s voice wobbled although she was speaking the absolute truth. If she could rewind her actions from the morning, she’d undo what she’d done. No, she wouldn’t. She’d be more careful to leave no trace.
She wasn’t going to share that with Luke. She said, “I know I trespassed. I know I shouldn’t have. And I’m very very sorry.”
Luke murmured something she couldn’t quite hear.
“Pardon me?”
He spanked her right cheek, then her left. Both slaps were soft, closer to love taps than punishment. “Just a little more then…”
He continued to spank her softly for what seemed like an eternity but was really only another minute or so.
By the time Luke helped her to her feet, she was hiccupping tiny sobs. Her eyes were dry, but her bottom felt like it had been stung by a thousand bees. He patted the sofa next to him but Cara snatched up her panties and slid them on before sitting down.
“You okay?” he asked, stroking her back. “You did well. You were brave.”
“Yeah. Fine.” Her hiccupping eased. “Do you always do this when you don’t like what a woman has done?”
He laughed. “Yesterday was the first time I’ve spanked a woman as punishment. What about you? Any Fifty Shades of Grey games with your boyfriend?”
“What boyfriend? No, none of that.” In spite of her stinging bottom, she gave a short bark of laughter.
Luke put an arm around her, drawing her close. He smelled like lime and wood smoke. She melted against him, trying not to accept his gesture of comfort too easily. At the same time, she wanted him to hold her, tell her everything was okay between them. But worse, she wanted way more than that. She wanted to take his handsome head in her hands and run her fingers through his hair while she planted kisses all over his face and neck.

The dynamic duo – Pippa Greathouse and Ruby Caine – are penning a new series, The Unsettling of Gold River. The first book, Being Obedient, is out now.

Blurb:

The quiet little town of Golden River, California has been a man’s haven since the beginning of the Gold Rush. And that’s the problem. Other than Faith Bartlett, an older widow who lives outside town, there are no other women there. But all that’s about to change, the moment saucy Obedience Bartlett, along with two younger mail-order brides step off the stage.
Keeping three mischievous ladies safe from a town full of men who have not had their arms around a woman in years? Tobias Madison is the man saddled with the responsibility. The adventures begin.
And the settled little town of Golden River is about to become quite 'unsettled'.

Publisher's note: Being Obedient is a historical romance, set in the days of the Gold Rush. It is steamy and contains power exchange themes. Please do not read it if this if offensive to you.

Excerpt:
Tobias frowned. "I have the distinct feeling, Miss Obedience—"
"Obie."
He took a deep breath and repeated his statement once again. "I have the feeling, Obedience, that you're doing your best to manipulate me. And while I am a gentleman, I don't take kindly to attempts at playing me like a puppet. A word of warning to you. I do spank young ladies who are intent on it."
Was that a brief widening of those big blue eyes he saw? If so, she recovered quickly.
"Oh, if I gave you that impression, sir, I do apologize. But please answer one more question?"
He was glaring; he knew it. At the moment, he wanted to grasp her by the shoulders and put her across his knee. Badly.
"Go on," he said, through clenched teeth.
"Well, I was just wondering if the only other reason was because there is no place in town to stay?"
"We were told there would be a hotel for us to stay in when we arrived." Danny looked up at him, keeping her voice soft.
"There is one being built as we sit here, ladies. But it's not finished. And even if it were, there is no female chaperone to look out for you."
"I see." Obedience was chewing her lower lip thoughtfully.
Tobias narrowed his eyes. "Do you?"
She nodded eagerly, and dimples showed as her eyes twinkled mischievously. "And now, I believe I can share my surname with you, Sheriff." But that was all she said, and he leaned down toward her, a threatening growl to his voice.
"I'm waiting, young lady," he said sternly.
She leaned back in her chair, a wide grin spreading across her delicious mouth. "My name is Obie Ann Bartlett," she said triumphantly. "Faith Bartlett is my aunt."
He stared, his eyes narrowing even further.
She stared back. Finally, she leaned forward, her chin resting on a small gloved hand. "So you see, sir, we do indeed have a safe place to stay. And a chaperone."

The amazing Kryssie Fortune joins me today with here new Regency spanking romance, His Innocent Bride.
Blurb: Going about her mundane life in a small fishing village, Alethea never dreamed she would end up with a man like the Earl of Deanswood, yet when she caught the handsome gentleman's eye he wasted no time in making her his wife. Unbeknownst to Alethea, however, her conniving mother has convinced Deanswood that she has no interest in the marital bed. Devastated by his seeming disinterest, Alethea searches for someone to instruct her in the ways of enticing a man.
When a friend informs Deanswood of Alethea's plans, he decides to train his new bride himself. Soon enough, Alethea finds herself naked, blindfolded, and helplessly bound as she is thoroughly spanked and then brought to one blushing, quivering climax after another. But when Alethea's life is threatened by her mother's vicious scheming, can Deanswood protect his innocent bride?

Excerpt

The way he ran his hand up and down her spine made her thighs turn weak, but she’d promised to obey him. Unfair as that seemed, she would do as he asked. He’d already told her to strip, so rising to her feet, she let the blanket fall to the floor and untied the belt of her borrowed dressing gown. The silk slid from her shoulders and slithered down her arms. It pooled on the floor at her feet.
She covered her nipples with her right arm and used her left hand to shield her pussy.
He sucked in a breath. Voice stern, he commanded, “Arms at your sides. That’s it. God, woman, you’re temptation personified. I’ve pictured you naked since I brought you off that first time, but I never imagined you as beautiful as this. Turn around, let me see every inch of you.”
All her life, her mother had insisted vanity was a sin. When her husband called her beautiful, Alethea’s smile shone brighter than the summer sun. As she pirouetted before him, her nipples hardened, and damp heat flooded her pussy. In a perfect world, she’d study his bare chest and delicious-tasting cock too, but she was too shy to ask.
Holding her gaze, he beckoned her closer. “Come here, chick. Because you’ve accepted that I’m in charge in our marriage, I’ll forgo the punishment spanking you deserve. Instead, I’ll spank you for our mutual pleasure. Put yourself in danger again, and I’ll blister your beautiful bottom with my belt. Do you understand?”
She nodded and took a nervous step toward him. How any spanking could be for pleasure was beyond her, but she’d trust her husband and obey his commands. Another two steps and she stood with her knees at right angles to his lap.
A nervous glance showed her his cock had grown to humongous proportions. When she’d worn her blindfold, she’d never seen his arousal. Now it fascinated and delighted her.
When he pulled her over his knee, his cock dug into her hip. Positioned like this, she felt like a naughty child. She tensed when he stroked her bare bottom.
Deanswood patted it gently. “Relax, or this will hurt more than it should.”
Those were easy words for him to say, but hung over his lap with her bottom in the air, she felt vulnerable and scared. Taking a deep breath, she untensed the muscles in her bottom.
He brought his hand down in a sharp smack that made her yelp. Heat exploded through her, warming her bottom. Another two blows followed in quick succession, one on each cheek. The way he spread the pain made her wail. Tears misted her eyes, but she clasped his ankles and tried to stay still. Another slap, harder than before, made her sob in earnest. Her bottom blazed. Pain crescendoed through her like thunderbolts that jarred her bones.
Her mind fogged and her vision blurred. She forgot the terrors of her day. Forgot where she was. She couldn’t even remember her name. Her world narrowed until only she and Deanswood existed. His next two strikes made her howl.

More about Kryssie Fortune.

Kryssie reads everything and anything, from literary fiction to sizzling romance. Her earliest memory is going to the library with her mother. She can’t have been more than two at the time. Reading, especially when a book’s hot and explicit, is more than a guilty pleasure. It’s an obsession.
Kryssie loves to visit historic sites, from Hadrian’s wall to Regency Bath. The first book she fell in love with was Georgette Heyer’s The Unknown Ajax. After that, she devoured every regency book she could. After a while, they went out of fashion, but part of Kryssie’s psyche lives in in in Regency London. She longs to dance quadrilles and flirt behind fans. Of course, Kryssie’s heroines do far more than flirt.
Kryssie lives in Bridlington on the Yorkshire coast –about thirty miles from Whitby, where Bram Stoker wrote Dracula. She enjoys gardening, travel, and socializing with her author friends. You’d be surprised how many erotic romance authors live in the North of England.

Question and answers with Kryssie Fortune.

What does your main character do that is so special?
My heroine, Lady Alethea grew up in a remote fishing village on the Kent coast. A strict religious sect holds sway there. They disapprove of everything - singing, dancing, laughing. Even smiling is a sin. Alethea dreams of a happy future not one sent peddling fish. When James, Earl of Deanswood drives his yellow phaeton into the village, he reminds of the Greek God Apollo driving his flaming chariot across the sky. Not that she can admit to knowing Greek Myths in her village. She gives her heart in an instant, but although Deanswood marries her within a week, he doesn’t do the same.
What is your hero like?
James, Earl of Deanswood never expected to inherit the title. His father and older brother died the same day the battle of Waterloo started. Deanswood enlisted as a boy soldier and although he attained the rank of major, he sold out when he learned of his father’s death. Although it’s never officially stated in the book, he suffers from PTSD.
Describe your writing process and the way you brainstorm story ideas.
Brainstorm? It’s more like batter them to death with a hammer. I start with a random scene in my head and work out how people got there. Sometimes that one scene doesn’t even make it into the story. Once I’ve got the first draft finished, I edit, and edit, and edit. The first readthrough is to check the plot works. The next three are to polish the words. After that, I print it out and read it again. Words look different on paper. Next, I read it out loud. Then, and only then, do I let my husband read it. Not that he’s a romance fan, but I’m dyslexic. He sees things I don’t.
After all that, my editor still makes changes.
